Anyone taken their jeep to automatic car wash?

Any problems with push button starts and automatic car washes? Do you leave the fob in the jeep or take it with you?

Re: Anyone taken their jeep to automatic car wash?

I would never take my Jeep through a car wash that involves brushes or towels touching the vehicle.

I either wash my Jeep by hand, or in the Winter months, take it to a touchless car wash.

I never go through a car wash that I'm not physically sitting in the driver's seat with the vehicle running...

Re: Anyone taken their jeep to automatic car wash?

I've gone through them. There is one local to me that I trust. I won't take it through just any car wash. I leave the fob in the car but take the key part out of the fob and hold on to that in case the door locks itself.

Re: Anyone taken their jeep to automatic car wash?

Those kind of car washes where you leave your vehicle have too high of water pressure and fade your rubber and plastic trim faster. That's been my past experience and I stopped going to those kind of car washes.

There is only 1 full service car wash I will ever trust that uses machines.
Simoniz car wash is the very best quality and truly care for each car. Always a ton of exotics that go there too.

I think it depends on the type of automatic car wash. The expensive premium ones make a difference, i put my last car through it about 1-2 times a month for 10 years and the paint was near perfect when i sold it after 10 years. Going to do the same with the jeep. Pricey at $23($18 with the coupon) but the no scratching the paint is worth it.
Now those cheapy little ones at the gas staions with the high speed spining plastic brushes i would not ever go near those things. They can quickly scratch the paint to hell.
Not an area to try and save money on. Pay for the premium one or break out the bucket and sponge. A modern premium automatic car wash is not the torture on a car that a car wash was years ago, just pick your car wash carefully. Just my opinion on whats worked for me over the years.

Re: Anyone taken their jeep to automatic car wash?

I did find a nice gas station touchless car wash with no attentendants and it's $7. I have a car wash very close but it's awful as they have brushes and attendants. My Aunt took her high end Lexus through it and was really upset; she didn't know what it was like. I drive a couple miles for the best and best price car wash in the city.

Hand washes only here, although from time to time I will use the pressure washer for a quick spray down and to remove bugs from the front during the summer months.

Re: Anyone taken their jeep to automatic car wash?

I think the question was is it a problem to leave the key fob in the vehicle at a car wash, not are car washes a good idea or not...

There is no problem leaving the key fob inside your GC during a car wash.

And maybe there are still automatic car washes around, but every car wash in my area is hand washed. I have never had a problem, other than one time the guy drying the roof couldn't find a step ladder and stood on my door sill...with a rock in his shoe...and scratched the aluminum trim. Grrrrr.

Re: Anyone taken their jeep to automatic car wash?

Thanks for all the responses. I know the owner of this car wash and have taken all my cars there, it's free for me! So, trust was never an issue. Went yesterday with no problems. Just left the fob in the Jeep but took the key with me.
