When I wanted to see a True Blue, and it was still very new, I went to jeep.com and did an inventory search using a Detroit zip code as the target. I then went through the the matches and looked only at the dealers that posted pictures of their inventory and I was able to find pictures that way. Most dealerships don't.
Of course, back then, you could search on the specific color you wanted. So it was easy find exactly the color I wanted around the detroit area. I remember it did seem to be that searching from Detroit outwards, it was true that the closer to Detroit, the better chances of finding the new color.
They've since redesigned the search feature and you can only search on generic colors like "blue", "black", "gray". WTH color are you supposed to search on for Max Steel?
Given that problem, another approach might be to just use jeep.com to find the dealers around Detroit, and go through them one by one, ignoring the dealers with no inventory pictures, and looking for maximum steel at the ones that do. You're bound to find a pic - if not now, then very soon. If not now, then maybe save the URLs for those dealers with inventory pics so you can quickly check every week or something.
