Re: Apple CarPlay for Chrysler vehicles
This has been covered before in other threads, but I am willing to bet that Chrysler only puts it into new/upcoming models.
Reason 1: They have several software updates out for the 8.4A/N head unit for 2015 model year only that cannot be installed on a 2014. 99% the same head unit and vehicle, but they won't release updates for the 2014 anymore. If they won't release simple updates/fixes for the one year old units, why would they implement an entirely new system for the "old" units?
Reason 2: The UCONNECT system works very well, especially when compared to other brands, and is ranked among the best in the entire industry (even by Consumer Reports, which traditionally dislikes anything Chrysler touches). I do not see any motivation for Chrysler to update previous model years systems, and am willing to bet that they instead put it on the next generation of vehicles when it is ready.
The 2017 new model JGC, that would probably be a good time to introduce it.
