It's 13 months old and has 20k on the clock and still has the issues. Plus today my check engine light came on. It's been to three dealers and honestly i feel the dealers are stumped.
I love the vehicle though. So much that I might be trading it in on a 14 Summit. I got a great deal from a dealer and I thinking about it over the weekend. I realized it not Jeep. It was the early release of the 14. Should have worked out the bugs first.
I have to think hard this weekend about going with another 14.Especially with the 50k price.
Hey - go for it. I just placed my order for a 2014 Summit on Wednesday..... Sorry that the 2014.0 was so problematic. The way I am looking at it changing from a 2011 to a 2014 is the refinements and upgraded tranny and tech. I really love my 2011 Black Summit...but the 2014.5 is gonna make missing it easy I hope! This will be my sixth Grand Cherokee!

CR is as reliable as having diarrhea in a wedding suit. you never know when the craps coming out.

CR started with good reviews then went to crap on the GC

I'm not suggesting everybody read CR, as personally I don't read it or care about it. But I bought one issue years ago. After they were instrumental in having the Suzuki Samurai disappear after their tests had some tip, the general media was reporting that CR was reporting the same results with the Bronco II. These reports gave Ford a push to replace the Bronco II which was a good seller.

I drove a Bronco II at the time ... put 170,000 miles on it ... so I was interested in the test results. In actuality what was reported in CR was that one of their drivers said that the vehicle felt like it had a tendency to tip, but they were unable to get any wheel to leave the ground.

In that case the damage was done by the broad based, incorrect, reporting of the mass media. Can you imagine what it would have been like if we had the internet back then?
---
This reminded me of my BIL, Larry Seim, who worked for an independent testing place in Detroit metro. Ford contracted with them to test the feasibility of putting a supercharger on the Bronco II's 2.8L six. He told me how much fun all the test drivers had, repeatedly rolling the Bronco II end over end. They'd punch the gas, the supercharger would lift the front wheels off the ground, the rear bumper would contact the ground hard, and the truck would tumble forward, end over end. They had a blast with the stubby little thing.

I wanted one in the worst way back then, but Larry warned me off, saying it was too top-heavy and relatively unsafe.

Oh, and I really want an actual trans temp readout rather than an idiot light.

Re: April, 2014 Consumer Reports - Annual Auto Issue

Don't understand all the hate for CR...likely the most unbiased source of product information the public has access to. Are they perfect...no, but neither is the 2014 Jeep GC.

Facts are facts: the early build 2014 GC had a greater than average number of issues, so those same owners slammed the 2014 when reporting to CR, and CR dropped their recommendation for the vehicle. The original "Buy" recommendation from CR mostly likely was extrapolated from the 2011 - 2013 GC...until all the negative ratings started coming in for the 2014...then CR dropped their buy rating in turn. It's as if the fanboys here feel the 2014 GC was the only vehicle treated this way at CR for crying out loud.

As a current owner of an early build 2014 GC myself, I can attest that it has been the most problematic new vehicle I've ever bought. The dust has settled for now, and my vehicle seems to be running fine (due to great diligence on my part reporting the problems to Chrysler Customer Care), but my confidence in the vehicle when it comes to reliability has dropped considerably. Between that and the poor service I've received from the Jeep dealership network in my area, I most likely won't be buying another Jeep product.

Sorry guys, but that's how I feel about my 2014 GC owning experience. Chrysler released this model too early, plain & simple, and going by my personal experiences with the Jeep dealerships around my area, they have a lot of catching up to do compared to the quality of service I've received at Toyota, Honda, or BMW dealerships.

Honestly I stopped going by their reviews when they did not recomend a single american made truck and instead recommended the Honda Ridgeline. Its one thing to complain about a rough ride and poor fuel mileage but to recomend a minivan in truck form is just ridiculous.

He wasn't making an opinion on the reliability of the 2014 wk2, he mas stating his opinion of the reports that C.R. produces.

Actually its about the gc and its reliability. At least I mentioned a jeep, how about you tell that to those talking about other brands. This thread stopped being about the gc when people started questioning cr's data as unreliable and biased against american brands.

kingbaida is on a distinguished road
I'm the not so proud owner of the GC2014 and as much I would hate to admit it , this vehicule is BY FAR THE WORSE CAR I HAVE EVER HAD....
Don't get me wrong , it's a nice vehicule with all the gizmos , but for reliability , this 4 x 4 sucks big time .... What a waste of $$$$ .
Would never , never , never recommend this car.
I've had many other cars , and ...... Never again JEEP .... Never !!!!!!

Re: April, 2014 Consumer Reports - Annual Auto Issue

Love the Jeep, it is a fantastic vehicle and would buy it again BUT ... if I could I would wait for MY 2015. No mechanical problems (knock on wood) but I didn't even have this car for a year and I've been to the dealer twice for recalls alone, flashes, numerous issues with radio (infamous "Vehicle Phone Requires Service")/multiple trips w/o effect, tranny flashes (still need to get the latest as you can get whiplash sometimes when this thing is shifting). My auto remote start still has issues and needs a flash. There are TSB coming out monthly for the issues that I've been asking my dealer to fix for almost a year now.

Tired of all the BS ... and let's be honest. Chrysler/Jeep service leaves a lot to be desired as well. Last time they kept my car for 3 days and they didn't even give me a loaner. Also got screwed on the Tech Package as since August new models are getting STOP feature and I cannot upgrade.

Again ... LOVE the TRUCK, but sometimes you need to use your head not your heart. As much as I hate to say that I think CR got it right. What I'm saying to my friends: Don't buy 2014, wait another year or so and then get it if you want it. Way to many issues! Horrible customer service!
