Honestly, there really isn't a point. Those high MPH speedometers are purely for looks. Anyone up in these parts won't find many places you can even get a car much over 100-120. Everything is just too hilly and curvey and the road surfaces suck.

Personally, I wish they would let me choose the top speed of the speedo. I would set it at 120 instead of the fake 140 it displays in order to spread the numbers out a little. I find them too close together to check my speed easily with just a glance.

Right now, 80 sits where 60 was on my last vehicle.

That's why I use the digital readout, easy read at a glance.

It's goes to 120 easy. Although my problem wasn't the speed gov... It was my screaming wife.

I can't bring myself to use rhat.

I like to at least have the appearance of a real spedometer.

Re: Are 2015 Grand Cherokee's Electronically Speed Limited?

I read that all vehicles produced in the U.S. have a speed limiter. My 330i topped out around 145 I'm pretty sure.

IIRC, regardless of where it is made, if it is certified for sale in the US it will have a speed limiter. With V-rated tires, the limit could be 149MPH.

Re: Are 2015 Grand Cherokee's Electronically Speed Limited?

If tires are the limiting factor, a lot of these new supercharged Vette's come with Z rated Run Flat's. They're rated for continuous operation above 200 MPH. Do they have a limiter? They advertise a top end of 203 MPH.

Re: Are 2015 Grand Cherokee's Electronically Speed Limited?

That's right - No limiter on my Z06 or CTS-V due to the Z rated tires.

Re: Are 2015 Grand Cherokee's Electronically Speed Limited?

Definitely electronic governor. I've seen a 14' SRT go 204 mph because the guy removed the limiter using a Diablo Tuner. Our max speed is said to be 165mph

Yeah that's probably how I should've worded it.

A speedometer's highest readout does not necessarily mean that is the vehicle's top speed.
