Re: Are 3 car seats in back possible?

The durango with the third row is nice because older mobile kids in boosters can put themselves into their seats in the third row that folds 50/50. Then the younger kids are easier to place in their seats in the second row. As long as the kids in the third row have good seatbelt habits and dont take them off mid-ride.

Re: Are 3 car seats in back possible?

What do you guys use for convertibles that allow front leg room? The britax infant seats and bases we use leave absolutely no room for me while driving (I'm 6'1''). I have twins so can't just put the carseat behind the passenger. Kids are getting bigger so starting to think about convertibles, any rear-facing convertibles work well?

I haven't used a convertible rear facing in my Jeep yet but had an '06 Pathfinder which sure seems to have even less car seat room than the Jeep. In that I started using a Radian rear facing and it would really only fit in the middle for the reason you are talking about. Then I found out they (Diano - who makes the Radian) sell an 'angle adjuster' wedge that made it more upright. Using that it would and fit behind the front seats much better.

For comparison, we also own a Britax and it needed quite a bit more depth then the Radian with the angle adjustor when set up to be rear facing.

You need to slow down there partner!

Tho my math has me guessing that the third child is already "on order" ...

My wife is a CPST. We have a forward facing Frontier 85 and a Diono Radian rear facing, both outboard. We put the Radian outboard passenger seat because with a middle seat install, it was touching the seat back of the the front seats, which isn't allowed by Jeep. My wife's seat is up farther than she'd like. A three across is very tough for this vehicle. If you need more info, ask. She is the go to person for these situations.

Re: Are 3 car seats in back possible?

I have three across mine. Two diono radians on outboard with a graco nautilus in the middle. Works perfectly. I can post pics if you want. I have same setup in my Camry. Nehsayers on 3 across just don't try hard enough lol..

I've got twins both in Clek Foonfs. Have had them both outboard and next to each other. Have also had a friend's infant carrier three wide in the rear and it works.

Re: Are 3 car seats in back possible?

I've got 3 in mine, no problems. The only difficulty is getting to the buckle if one of them is a booster seat (which one of mine is). For that I got a seat belt extender (ordered from Mopar).

My '14 Jeep GC's manual says it can touch. Have her double check on the bracing issue. I'm sure you are using the Diano angle adjuster to gain some space, but front seat room has to be tight.

If the car does not have advanced airbags, then it can touch, provided the car seat allows it. That is correct. Most newer cars cannot touch the vehicle seat back. Yes, we have the pad adjuster. Also she says belt extenders aren't allowed for booster.

So....it sounds like your CPST can get her leg room back :-) She'll be much happier w/ that seat in the center position.
