Re: Are you addicted to bells and whistles?

I'm somewhere in the middle. Like the OP I used to be very bare bones; I loved the simplicity of my CJ-7 (so easy to work on)! I wouldn't even use the a/c or power windows in my ZJ because I didn't want them to break.

But as I age I'm starting to appreciate the finer things and creature comforts, albeit slowly. I like the consistency/reliability of fuel injection. I like the heated seats and leather of my Subaru. However after owning (read: repairing) my wife's Audi I still deplore most of the other doo-dads that I can live without. Just more crap to break and expensive to fix.

Re: Are you addicted to bells and whistles?

Sunroof has always been my "must have". If it's on the option list, I have to have it.

Oh, forgot one thing I could really have use for is the auto high beam.

Re: Are you addicted to bells and whistles?

Completely addicted myself. The remote start, heated seats, heated steering wheel, nav and pano roof. Now that I have them I don't think I'll ever go back to not!
Looking forward to the power folding mirrors on the next one..

Re: Are you addicted to bells and whistles?

Keyless entry, push button start, remote start, leather seats, heated seats, hands free phone and blue tooth audio player. At first I said I don't need all of this, and boy will these features spoil you. Especially when I go to drive the wife's car I forget to take the key out of my pocket

Re: Are you addicted to bells and whistles?

I'll be doing the maintenance on this jeep just like most of my vehicles. I think I'm a middle of the road guy, and I brought my Laredo on purpose. I have added Nav, back up cam, u connect, better spring shock package, the limited chrome, auto start so I don't need the heated things it's usually toasty when I get in, and painted the lower panels to match. I really miss the climate control, and I wouldn't mind the auto seat in hindsight I probably should have just brought a limited. However from my experience there are somethings I really don't want that just break, and tax the already temperamental electrical system. Especially since I like knowing my vehicle is fixed correctly, and I'll be the one finding the problem. The sunroof is one I like, but always starts leaking when there's a huge storm approaching.LOL maybe it's just my luck.

Re: Are you addicted to bells and whistles?

^ I was going to say you can just buy the climate control part and "drop" it right in but you have a wk so i'm not sure about your generation. You might be able to though!

Re: Are you addicted to bells and whistles?

It looks possible although not easy like the WK2, but I don't think I'm going to attempt it.

A sunroof has always been on my list of "must not have", since I am "follicly challenged". Also its a damn hole in a perfectly good roof. But when I saw the Saddle Black interior on the Overland and found out the pano was part of the package I relented.

Re: Are you addicted to bells and whistles?

What about safety in a roll over with the sunroof? There was a guy who posted his roll over pic's, and he commented he was glad he didn't have a sunroof. Is there anything to that? He's got me a little extra paranoid thinking about future wk2's with them.

How is the vehicle supposed to know when you are actually in a place where folding the mirrors makes sense? I would want that to be in my control!
