Asked tons... still getting a 50/50 answer. I need JG's help on new purchase!

First post, so I apologize if this isn't the correct spot to post. (Please feel free to move if so)

Long time lurker, about to get my first WK2. Been holding out for over a year for the right one. As much as I love the 2014 changes, I am on a budget, and the 2013 I found has literally everything I want. BUT... Is the price right?

Out of all the people I truly trust with cars, some even ex Jeep employees... I am still getting 50/50 answers. Here are the quick facts:

2013 JGC Limited 5.7 -- Lux II
30k Miles

$34,900

Kelly Blue book and Edmunds say thats right on the money. However a few of my "bro" friends that swear they are "like super knowledgeable with cars" are saying its high. I know if anyone, JG would know.

So... whats the verdict?

For what its worth you can get a brand new base model msrp for that...0 % interest
Plus thats a starting point...probably get a 15 around 30 ish fairly well loaded.... get an overland well fitted for 42ish
Anyway 35k seems high, if its at a dealer tell them 28...they probably let it go for 30 and still make money on it
Edit...forgot the name, but there is another jeep forum that has a running thread of what everyone is paying

Since you are getting 50/50, I guess it is up to you to break the tie ... and that's how it should be.

Used car prices vary from place to place. It would be good to put your location in.

I completely see where your coming from. However coming from a 2002 Audi, a 2013 is a big step up in features, and price. I truly didnt want to spend over $27K but kept saying "Well if a black/black Hemi LuxII came in I'd consider it" and sure enough I found one. To add complexity, its with a family friend whom works for the biggest broker on the west coast. Hes disclosed hes already not making much profit, and I tend to believe him as he is an extremely honest guy (I know... rare for a car salesman). That being said... I am interested, but truly have no intention of bumping up to a newer model to lose features. In all reality, Id rather have the features in a 3 year old model, and save money.

More or less, I was concerned with if the car is a good value. It seems all reputable sources online are saying its right on the money, but doing research... especially on a group full of Jeep nerds, couldnt help.

Thank you for the input! I really do appreciate it

Thanks for the input!

I am located in Denver, Colorado.

As of now, I think I will be buying it come Tuesday. Just wanting to make sure I'm not making some huge mistake, before taking the plunge.

Just gotta see what's available online and are you willing to fly across the country and drive one back if it saves you a couple thousand after expenses?

That seems high for a 2013. Get a 2014 (anything built after Aug-13).

Your price seems about right for a used 2014 with those options.

The V6 with new 8 Speed Transmission has about the same performance specs as a V8 with the 6 Speed !!

I'm going with the "thats too much" group. Heck, there have been guys that got brand new '14/'15 Overland V6's for right around 40K even. If I was gonna spend 35K+ it would without a doubt be the refreshed 2014+ model. Even if it meant spending more, its worth it. They are practically completely different vehicles. Find a 2014+ for the same price! shouldn't even be a question :-)

Here is an example.

2014 V8, 23K miles, $34K with Technology Package (which requires Lux).

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit, $33,990 - Cars.com

Oops that's a Summit, you don't want that, you want a limited

That is too much for a 2013. You most definitely find a 2014 Limited, improved Limited (with optional packages) or even Overland at that price or negligibly more. You are not trying hard enough to find them. And if you fly an economy airline to get it from somewhere else, you will get more choices.

A couple minor items to consider.

Warranty. Can you get the 2013 with a Mopar warranty?
That hemi isn't cheap and the electronics in the lux are almost as bad.

Transmission: The 8 speed in the "2014" models transforms the Hemi.

Before you jump, can you find a good 2014 Hemi model new and pick up a warranty for at least the first several miles? Even if it means a slightly longer payment...
