I'm looking for engine protection and longevity, not potential better fuel economy.
I can answer that:

The 20W oil (operating temp component of 5W-20) is the viscosity required for the hydraulics that control the MDS (Multi-Displacement System) to function properly. Thicker oil reduces the response time of the valve lifters as the MDS system engages and disengages. It has very little to do with fuel economy aside from the MDS functioning properly

There's a lot more than oil viscosity involved in engine protection so the belief that higher viscosity oil is always better simply isn't the case.

Re: ATTENTION: 2011 owners! PLEASE READ! Questions for the engineers?????

For those of you who have not had a chance to see the previous engineer's chat, check it out below. Many of your potential questions may have been covered, not sure.

Either way note how incredibly valuable this is to us all, cause you certainly don't want to be taking any guidance from some internet dood named Moosehead.

Trivia Question: What does WK stand for? Is W for Wagon in German?

Thanks mjw. That makes me feel much better. I ordered by Overland yesterday.

I would like to know about Sport Mode. Other than disabling Traction Control, Air Suspension at AERO and 80% rear drive torque split, is there any changes in shift points or other things being changed from "auto".

Great thread... Many thanks for the interaction.

Or

Why doesn't the off-road package include off-road tires as stated in the description?

My question:

Can Jeep explain the logic (or lack thereof) of the HVAC system blower motor? Why does it change speed when moving the gear selector between park/neutral and gear??

(2) For the V8, when to do the first oil change (out of an abundance of caution) then what interval and if synthetics are worth it and if so what interval for synthetics (along with type).

In other words I want to put those discussions to rest with respect to this new V8.

Oh, and maybe more clarity on the V8 break-in recommendations since the manual is not written clearly.

Lastly, where the heck is the coin holder! LOL
I would like to ask the same question but for a V6

No there is not, but there should be!
The WK2 is IMHO not as capable as the older WK in the sand. I have had both and do quite a bit of sand driving.
They really should find a way to completely disable the ESP/ESC. Especially the feature where it limits power when wheel spin is detected.

Do something about this!!!
