I guess I'm just too old school. If I want my doors locked I'll do it, i don't need an auto or it's manufacturer deciding for me. The same goes for headlights and seatbelt reminders. I also don't like DRL's at all, to each his own. I'd rather decide for myself, the automobile is supposed to be for my use and convenience, not to tell me what to or not to do.
This I can appreciate. I hate when a car tries to 1-up my own decisions. I don't want my seatbelt on right now. I don't want traction control right now. Yet it imposes restrictions anyway. Well put.

NB
It is nice how many options you can customize. On my land rover you had to make a trip to the dealer for any changes to functions. Which they charged $85 for each time.

Re: Auto Door Locks

I just checked my EVIC after discovering this thread and I to don't have the "Auto Lock Doors" item even though my doors do indeed auto lock at ~25Km/h

That's not what it does. From the owner's manual page 34: "If Auto Unlock is enabled, this feature will unlock all the doors when the driverís door is opened if the vehicle is stopped and in PARK or NEUTRAL."

Re: Auto Door Locks

It has always annoyed me also.

I once saw an accident where the occupants were unconscious and the car was on fire. Someone had to smash the window to get them out because the doors were locked. I might add that it was much more difficult to break a window from the outside than I would have thought. I do NOT want my doors locked when I'm driving for that very reason.

Beyond that, I also found that I want mine to stay in the highest ride height because of a couple of feet of new snow on the ground. But, as soon as I pick up a little speed it decides that I should be driving in "aerodynamic ride height". So, as soon as I pull off into a side street I have to raise the damn thing back up again. Now, I know that this is more than annoying and no way to disable this!

Aero mode kicks in at 62 MPH. You want to drive through two feet of snow at 62 MPH?

The car will drop from the OR2 (highest) position to OR1 at 20 MPH and from OR1 to Normal Ride Height at 48 MPH because of the risk of rollover at those heights and speeds. Chrysler really wanted to avoid getting a "Not Acceptable" rating from Consumer Reports.

Doors will unlock when the airbags go off, or collision is detected.
