Auto lower/raise height when parking

I thought that the Jeep was supposed automatically lower itself when you turned the car off, to make it easier to get out of. And automatically raise itself back up when you start the car?

If this is the case, mine isn't doing it and I can't figure out how to set it.

Ditto. Only time I use mine is at the bank machine.

I wish it would automatically lower when you put it into park. A few of the more expensive vehicles with air suspensions will do this. But since the Jeep won't use the air suspension with the door open, you'd have to put it in park, wait, then get out. Plus you might crush something. So I figured it's not a huge deal to not do it.

I do the same & I love this feature! Well, my wife & mother-in-law love this feature! I think side steps look lame on the Overland, so this makes it soooo much easier for short-legged passengers to get in & out!

You can set this in Uconnect - Air Suspension — If Equipped
Go to Settings - After pressing the “Suspension” soft-key the following
settings will be available:
• Auto Entry/Exit Suspension
When this feature is selected, the vehicle automatically
lowers from ride height position when vehicle shifted to
park for easy entry/exit. Touch the box next to your
selection and a check-mark appears next to the feature
showing the system has been activated or the check-mark
is removed showing the system has been deactivated.

Hope this is what you after.

That setting only became available in late 2014 production models. My 2014 is an earlier build and that feature is not enabled. The OP has a 2012 so it's probably a good guess that he doesn't have that setting either.

Haha..funny..

When I read the initial posts in this thread, I was thinking "what are these guys talking about? My Jeep lowers itself when put in 'P' and there is an option for that in Uconnect...".

Of course I had no clue that this was a relatively new feature....

BTW, what I also noticed it that even in 'P', the vehicle sometimes doesn't go lower (or completely down) until you close the trunk.

I was thinking the same thing.

Correct, it will not lower when any door is open. I think this is a safety feature.

This thread was started in July 2012...which is why the OP had a MY12 at that time. Hemi2 resurrected it this morning. :)

Hi all, new member. I have a 2012 Grand Cherokee with the air lift system. When I went out this morning, my front fenders were touching my tires. I have stock size Nitto Grabbers, and the front end was parked lower ( facing DOWN) driveway.

I just had both air struts replaced ( new from Amazon) by my local Jeep dealer. As soon as I started the Jeep, it immediately rose up and I am able to raise it to the highest height.

Is this anything to worry about? I appreciate the feedback, Ive only had the vehicle 6 weeks and so far its a moneypit.

yes, that's a worry. It should not drop in height overnight like that. I think about the only thing that could cause it is a leak from the lines. At some point (probably a few days) so much will have leaked out it won't be able to pump back up. I'd get it back to the dealer. Many people have had leaks at the fittings on top of the struts.
