Sorry hoss most BMWs are a hell of lot more reliable than any Jeep. Jeep and Chrysler could learn a hell of lot from BMW on how to build engines especially high performance ones.

I respectfully have to disagree with your assessment about German cars - I've had a Mercedes GL450, ML350, ML550, S430 and S550 and all of them have been nearly flawless (the GL had a couple of minor issues due to first year of production and software upgrades). The others never had a single issue. I chose a JCG Summit this time to replace my ML550 because it was the first vehicle I had driven that I liked as well and it was $25k less than a 2014 ML550. I already miss the customer service Mercedes delivers, but I do not miss the $300 oil changes and $400.00 per tire prices.

Sorry Setout...data doesn't support that. BMW pretty consistently rates fairly average reliability wise industry-wide. Some models are below average in both reliability and quality.

Even the vaunted Consumer Reports (sarcasm) puts them on the not-so-reliable side of things.

I've never seen one on the driver's side.

Which manufacturers are using them?

I use a ninety nine cent spot mirror on the lower inside corner of the driver's mirror. Works great in that position. I can see anything coming up on that side, all the way until I can look left and see the driver next to me. And, in the 30 years I've been using them the price has barely budged.

Re: Auto mirrors folding when locking the car?

Automatic power folding side mirrors sound like a great idea.

Re: Auto mirrors folding when locking the car?

I use them all the time. Not only when parking. There are a lot of tight streets in my area and driving down them with the mirrors folded in makes it so much less stressful, especially when other large vehicles forget to fold their mirrors in while parked. It's so nice to just be able to hit a button as I'm driving down the street and fold them in. Love it!

Well, it just MAY be true for the non M versions, but numerous amounts of data out there suggest its the opposite. But for the M versions, I can attest this is not my experience and a far reaching statement.

As for the mirrors, I'd like for them to automatically expand when driving off instead of manually expanding them from the fold position.

Yeah...I can think of several scenarios where that would either be undesirable or dangerous. I'd prefer to do it manually.

Re: Auto mirrors folding when locking the car?

Surprised no one has asked for an mod that will fold them in when the QL goes into aero mode so the vehicle will be that much more aerodynamic...
