Auto transporter for Grand Cherokee

I'm getting ready to move from Oklahoma to Florida and would like to rent a moving truck and be able to tow my 2015 Grand Cherokee with it. So far I haven't found any auto transports that will fit the Grand Cherokee and it's too wide and heavy for u-haul's equipment; does anyone have any past experience with this and have any recommendations? Thanks!

Re: Auto transporter for Grand Cherokee

I have not had to tow my 15 Grand, but I towed my 99 WJ with the 4.7 and 4inch lift with 32s on a trailer by budget rental. I was also using a budget rental truck.

Re: Auto transporter for Grand Cherokee

I have a suggestion...you send me the overseas plane ticket and I'll be more than happy to driver your GC from Oklahoma to Florida (free cost for the driving)...

Auto transporter for Grand Cherokee

If you let Victor drive, he'll take the side roads and drive through the mud, over the sand dunes, up icy hills, followed by a wash in the lake. At least he'll return it clean

Re: Auto transporter for Grand Cherokee

Haha, thanks guys! I'll probably have to end up driving it down vs. towing as it's too heavy for any of the u-haul trailers/dolly's and looks like that'll be the case with Budget and Penske. Was just trying to avoid the wear and tear as I've had it less than a week.

Re: Auto transporter for Grand Cherokee

Have you considered flat-towing it if you have the right transfer case? Lots of RV's tow them behind on long trips.

If your transfer case has "neutral", it should work. Check the manual though

Re: Auto transporter for Grand Cherokee

Flat tow system is probably close to $1500. I installed a system on my brother's 14 Overland to tow behind my parents RV. Its easy, but you lose the tow hooks and it's not all that cheap either.

Good to know, I honestly don't know anything about flat towing lol. I'll count that out!
