Automatic Rear Locker

I have a 14 JGC Overland (Hemi) with QDII. Trying to determine if there's auto locking functionality or do these trucks run open diffs.

Re: Automatic Rear Locker

Look on your window sticker for Electronic Limited-Slip Rear Differential.
It also comes with the Off-Road Adventure II package.

Re: Automatic Rear Locker

LSD from my understanding is not capable of a full lock....for instance, like the Z71 package offered by GM.....

I believe that you are right, Limited slip is not full lock per se.
A locking differential is either open or locked depending on user input.

A limited slip allows a certain amount of slip before locking - so its no a full lock but power switches to the wheel that grips, no outside input.

However Electronic limited slip changes slip degrees (at least on my GL it was the case) so it could change into a full lock if one wheel is spinning in the air.
Of course I may be wrong, as I didn't see any reference in the Jeep user manual

Re: Automatic Rear Locker

I'll leave this here:

I believe that it isn't a clutch based system but utilizes a gerotor coupling in the rear end to "lock" side to side based on slip.
