I believe that you are right, Limited slip is not full lock per se.
A locking differential is either open or locked depending on user input.
A limited slip allows a certain amount of slip before locking - so its no a full lock but power switches to the wheel that grips, no outside input.
However Electronic limited slip changes slip degrees (at least on my GL it was the case) so it could change into a full lock if one wheel is spinning in the air.
Of course I may be wrong, as I didn't see any reference in the Jeep user manual
