Average MPG according to the EVIC?

I've never reset my MPG calculator in the EVIC and I got about 1600 miles on my HEMI Overland. If I don't reset, will it reset automatically every so often?

Re: Average MPG according to the EVIC?

The reason I ask is that my average MPG appears to fluctuate too rapidly to be calculating the average MPG for the entire life of the car (1600 miles), which is what I thought it would do.

For example: My EVIC displayed 17.0 before a trip out to Palm Springs last weekend. The EVIC displayed 19.2 upon arriving in PS, then down to 17.3 after putting around town for a couple days, then back up to 19.5 upon return.

The EVIC must not be calculating all 1600 miles of MPG right? How or when does it automatically reset?

It resets when you manually reset it where it says "Reset" on the EVIC.

dood...it is not fluctuating rapidly...it is working fine...you seem to get 17 city driving and roughly 20 highway

Re: Average MPG according to the EVIC?

1. Yes, I know how to reset the EVIC. I'm asking if and when the EVIC resets itself.

2. Yeah, I understand what you're saying about the 17/20 city/highway MPG IF the EVIC was being reset, but I've NEVER reset it. There's no way that I'm averaging 19.5 MPG (what my EVIC displays now) with my HEMI over the first 1600 miles of driving. That's highly unlikely (would be great though).

Am I not explaining myself properly?
