Re: AVG. MPG 5.7 Hemi

lowes07 - I use mid grade 89 too, around 12 MPG in all city driving, 16-17 MPG mostly Interstate driving. I like to accelerate off the line! This has been consistent with my last 3 V8 Jeep GC's.

Those numbers are about the same as mine. When I purchased the Jeep didn't expect great numbers with the HEMI. My heavy foot doesn't help much either. Really fun to drive. My next one is going to be an SRT.

Re: AVG. MPG 5.7 Hemi

^^^ Considering an SRT too... I figure I don't drive that many miles so MPG doesn't matter really. When someone says they get 30+ MPG with their car (not a GC) I look at them like how can that be as I have had V8's since forever. LOL

Re: AVG. MPG 5.7 Hemi

With the stock Latitudes at 38 PSI we were average a bit over 17, which was mixed urban/highway. Highway only less than 75 it would be around 21, falling off over that. With the BFG K02s that I put on the stock 18" wheels for winter/offroad it lost about 1-1.5 MPG. I really like the tires for winter driving.

For summer I picked up a set of the black vapor SRT "Spider Monkeys" ('15 SRT take-offs) with 295/45ZR20 Pirelli P Zero runflats (very heavy) for summer use. My guess is these will be the same or maybe even a bit worse than the BFG K02s in terms of fuel economy.

I can't say that we baby it, but isn't constantly flogged either.

My Pentastar is the big liar. It always says it averages 19.2 but hand calc says 17 lol
Thats the same mileage that car and driver got on their instrumented tests a year or two back they got 17 on the v6 and 16 on the hemi for mixed driving. Was just reading the new consumer reports and for mixed they got 18 for the v6 and 24 on the diesel, didnt test hemi though.

I'm averaging 16.5 - 17 in mixed driving using mid grade fuel. On a recent 500 mile hwy trip I averaged 20 with ACC set on 81 MPH.

Re: AVG. MPG 5.7 Hemi

Averaging 21 MPG mix of highway and city throughout the day, about a 50/50 blend. Using mid-grade, 89 fuel.

21 mpg mixed highway/city is not believable.

I'll be glad to share a pic of the trip computer later this week during my commute. It's called conservative driving.

Not disputing your observation. The dash numbers seem to always be generous in my experience.

Have tried topping off the tank then manually calculate the mileage --- or use apps like gas buddy which are really helpful?

If you actually get 21 MPG, God bless ya. I can't even get that with highway only driving!!!

Re: AVG. MPG 5.7 Hemi

Here is a trip example from my 2005 V8 GC in 2008 where I got 16.2 m.p.g.:

The Grand Cherokee was loaded up (no trailer) but not heavier than say four adults, drove 1318 miles in 19 hours (time includes stops for gas) and it took 81.75 gallons which equals averaging 70 m.p.h. (time includes stops for gas so really traveling closer to 75 m.p.h). Granted MPG may have improved some, but haven't noticed in my 2011 or 2014 V8 GC's. I though 16.2 m.p.g. was my best m.p.g. ever!
