[QUOTE=Chunderboy;953576]
TBH, I have never been in a blizzard that caused me to get lost or stuck. I always had a rig that could handle it hands down and would even help people who were stuck in their car. Sure, people that drive a two wheel drive vehicle when they know feet of snow will be on the ground are morons, but if I can help I do.

Then you have never really been in a blizzard with whiteout conditions. Its scary, disorienting, and can be deadly. When you have six feet + of snow covering the roads and taller drifts nothing gets by except for Humvees and tracked vehicles. Everything is white and you can see maybe 20ft sometimes less.

You can get stuck in snow I have watched Wranglers with ARb lockers F and R and winter tires with chains get stuck.

I have been out in blizzards rescuing sheep and cattle in total whiteout conditions. I had a compass and knew where I needed to go it was still fing scary plus with temps near or below zero and 40mph+ winds you dont have alot of opportunities to recover from your mistakes. I was dressed for the weather and knew what and how to deal with it. I had dogs I could depend on. Without them I wouldnt have gone out.

Well, I fully admit I have never experienced any of those things and not sure if I want to.

Tbh, what made me really prep out my truck with water, power bars, thermal blankets etc. was a video of a guy who was stuck on lake shore drive in Chicago for 10 hours with only a few cookies during the blizzard. He had less than a quarter tank of gas and no water or heavy jacket and had a look on his face like he was going to die in his car.

Granted, the chances of that happening in nyc is slim to none, but I have taken all kinds of precautions now that I have a kid.

Here it is

Re: Awwww yea blizzard!

Two things you should never do driving into a snow storm; 1) not bring any protective gear (jackets, gloves, etc.) and 2) have a quarter tank of gas or less.

That guy set himself up for failure and it bit him in the butt.

I can deal with snow and teens or 20 degree temperatures. We will be getting a high of -11 on Sunday with windchills between -40 and -50 in Wisconsin. That's a whole new ball game. Nothing seems to work right in that kind of cold, especially vehicles.

Re: Awwww yea blizzard!

I'm with BF07....

I'll take snow over the cold we are supposed to get here in the Twin Cities on Monday.

The HIGH for the day is supposed to be -17.
Yes you read that correct, the HIGH is supposed to be -17 Farenheit (-28 Celsius).
I'm sure the folks up in Duluth, Ely, and Embarass will set a record for being even colder....

The governor has closed public schools for Monday. Windchills are predicted into the -60 range.

I've been in some bad snow storms in RWD, FWD, and 4/AWD.
Fortunately never a bad blizzard.

And I would still take the snow storm they are getting on the East Coast.

12" of snow? Big whoop.

Re: Awwww yea blizzard!

The Packer game on Sunday could be even colder than the famous "Ice Bowl". Should be interesting...
