As good of a time as any to take some videos of our rigs making lite work of the snow.

in NY they are calling for anywhere between 8-12 inches...hoping for the latter.

Re: Awwww yea blizzard!

Here they are calling for anywhere from rain to 4 inches of snow. I hope it far exceeds their expectations. Even at 1 inch everything closes around here. If we get 10 inches or so I might have some of the back roads to myself before the plows show up, in a couple of days.

Every different report that I have seen is showing at least 6 to as much as 12 (with some reports showing 8-10). I can only hope for the 12 so I test her out with the duelers. Man, too much snow can never show up.

I've been blowing through the snow here in Erie, PA all winter, no problem. If someone wants to take videos, be my guest. My GC's heated seats won't let me out unless I'm back in the garage!

If you get some snow, send some of it my way to southern West Virginia.

Re: Awwww yea blizzard!

A real blizzard isnt any fun and can be deadly. Back a few years ago we got hit with two snow storms back to back and had over 5ft of snow on the ground.

Got up early Saturday morning to get the dogs out before ti got bad. Opened garage door and my boy looked out and went I dont think so. I said come on I dont know when we will get back out. Brought him and took my girl out. She looked out from the garage and didnt want to go out. No she loves the bad weather and the worse it gets the more she wants to stay out and either play or work. We went out and walked down the street and she got to the end of her 16 ft flexi leash and I couldnt see her it was snowing so hard. She peed and ate some snow and did zoomies and came in. We hadnt the much snow in DC area ever.

You can easily get lost in a real blizzard and be within less than half mile of your place. Blizzards are great when they are from the DQ!

I do remember the blizzard from 2010 or 2011. I think a train leaving from JFK airport got stuck somewhere in queens and people were stranded on a cold train for hours, now that must have sucked.

TBH, I have never been in a blizzard that caused me to get lost or stuck. I always had a rig that could handle it hands down and would even help people who were stuck in their car. Sure, people that drive a two wheel drive vehicle when they know feet of snow will be on the ground are morons, but if I can help I do.

My last rig was the 4th gen 4runner that came with pretty decent tires and standard locking center diff. That made it basically impossible to get stuck in snow (in my experience of course)

Re: Awwww yea blizzard!

Very early this morning I drove wifey to the train station then on the way back helped an older Polish lady with her Yaris navigate around an icy corner (via the rubber floor mats method) and pulled a taxi man out of his misery with the tow rope. He was a hater...

Later I took some great pictures in the snow (backyard admittedly). By 10 AM I drove to work (though I am on vacation) - to celebrate the last day before retirement of a colleague). On my back alley I had to use 4LOW - SNOW on my way out and when I came back at noon I actually needed ORA II - 4LOW - SNOW. I think the SNOW mode works as intended, allows some spinning of wheels but won't let you kill yourself. As for 4 LOW, well, it was unstoppable through my 12 inch+ snow with drifts up to 20-22 inches. OEM tires too :-)

Anyways, we are gearing up for week-end snow storm now. In Chicago the snow has finally stopped after 48 hours.

Edit: Negative Houdini. 10 min ago I could see a setting sun. Now it is snowing heavily.

+1 rep for helping.

As for that much snow....damn. Glad you were able to stretch her legs and get through it all.
