Back in a Jeep ('15 Grand Cherokee High Altitude)

My very first car was a Jeep (88 Jeep Cherokee, Blue) - and now with two cars in between.. I'm back in a Jeep! Picked up a 2015 Grand Cherokee High Altitude w/HK Audio in Granite.

I went to "just go check it out" to see if I liked the trim to consider ordering when the 2016's came out. Dealer made a very fair offer + trade-in without much fuss so went ahead and pulled the trigger.

Looking forward to loving this thing for a while. I know ACC is about to improve, but damn if that isn't an AMAZING feature as-is.

Attaching a few photos, the color isn't quite representative because there's crazy smog in Seattle right now since nearly the entire state is on fire.

PS - I didn't park it in the handicapped spot like a jackass, the dealership did after detailing the car for me.

Alright bro, I'm gonna need to trade you door handles and mirror caps but I got some nice upgraded side skirts to give you too from my Granite Summit.

That is a beautiful ride, congratulations!

Thanks everyone! My previous ride was a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe (the absolute most car I could afford brand new while paying my way through college).

That car was rock solid reliable, it was just so boring! Haha. It treated me very well through the end of college and the last 6 years almost to the day.

Was ready to up my game with a lot more car, luxury - and surprisingly power AND efficiency.

That HK sound system is 100% worth the $795 upgrade price. Shouldn't even be an option on a trim level this high imho.

The SRT is still the meanest looking Jeep available but so far I'm super impressed with the HA packaging.

Nice pickup! It looks great. I'm expecting my HA to be in late next month.

Glad things went well for you at Rairdon - I despise that dealership (for my own reasons).

I've heard mixed reviews about Rairdon. Only went there because it was the only HA in the state.

The internet sales manager was fine. A few other salty individuals were as you might expect.

At the end of the day though I got a deal I was happy with without having to throw a fit.

Just wish car dealers would give you a fair deal from the get go without being shady about trying to build in fees or slam up sells down your throat.

I can see how people who are conflict averse could easily get pressured into buying crap they don't need or want at an unfair price.

P.S. This is coming from a guy who does marketing for a living. There are totally ethical ways to up-sell people without using pressure or scarcity. Earn trust with people and it will go SO far in earning their business again and again.

Just curious, what engine did you go with, V6?
The color you chose also looks great! If I owned a new HA I honestly think it looks so well that the only thing I would do to that car is tint match the front two windows and be done with it! It looks awesome man congrats again!

Thanks! I originally thought I wanted white, but the Granite looked so elegant in person I instantly fell in love. It just has the V6, but that's honestly what I decided I wanted anyway.

The 5.7 sounds amazing, but I wanted the economy of the V6 (which is more than enough for the light things I was interested in towing), so the math from the V6 to the Diesel didn't pencil out if I didn't need the increased towing capacity for large loads.

oh man, I had an awful buying experience. I did most of the negotiating on the phone with the internet sales manager, but had to go in to finalize the deal and get a quote on my possible trade in. I should have been there for 30-60 minutes tops. 4 hours later I drove away with my Altitude, and only after I threatened to leave.

The deal we agreed to over the phone of course changed when they gave me the paperwork. I should have left right there. Then they fudged the numbers again with the trade in. Then the sales manager comes back and says "hey, for this deal we included a $500 rebate plus 0% financing...and it can only be one or the other...which one do you want?" At that point I got up and got into my car...of course they ran out and said "no problem, we'll make it work". Slimeballs.

If there's any industry that needs a major disruption, it's the auto dealership industry. Tesla is trying and I hope they succeed.

Sorry to hear you had such a poor experience.. that wouldn't have gone over well with me either. The $500 or 0% is an either-or as far as their kickbacks from Chrysler are concerned.. but that sounds like a lack of education on a reps part which is something they should have to eat (sounds like they did).

Hope you're loving your Altitude now that you have it though!

Nice ride man! Congrats and welcome to Jeep Garage. Good color choice as you can't really go wrong with any color.

Sweet looking ride. Congrats.

I love the color good luck with your new toy. I also love how the end number is never the real number they always try and get you for more. My dealer was from a different county and I pay more sales tax he wanted me to eat the extra $400+ so I looked at him and said I told you what I was gonna pay just put my plates back on my car and I'm done I stood up he said we'll make it work and gave me it on my trade. Crazy I have five more years before I have to deal again. Once again that's a nice ride.

Thanks guys. I'm LOVING this bad boy so far. Yes, the "trivalent" chrome is sort of a smokey looking gun metal color. Looks pretty fantastic imho ?

One thing I've noticed as a tech-centric guy is that while the Uconnect system is ok... I don't see why reviewers fawn all over it. I've found it to be laggy and the music queries for iPhones to be particularly lacking.

Better than my last car, but I think it gets more praise than it deserves. Especially when it doesn't have a guaranteed upgrade path for existing owners.

I just took delivery last night of a white v8 with HK stereo. I'll try to post some pics up later. I think I'm the first in IL to get one according to dealer. Had to do quite a bit looking around to find it. :)

The HA looks unbelievable in person. Pictures simply don't do it justice. The black chrome looks great imho.
