Not necessarily, have'nt checked for '14 but earlier to get the full set of upgrades it had to be a 4x4. 4X2s got little more than the hitch and wiring.

Do agree, the factory hitch is nicely integrated and rugged. When I was rearended by a F*rd 150, the receiver took most of the impact with almost no damage (one chain loop was folded). F*rd had to be towed away. My tailgate still sealed and worked properly.

Yeah, my bad, I meant that with the towing package on the 2014's it came with those things, where as before the v6 got a lesser version of the towing package.

Thanks for all the thorough replies! I was leaning towards getting it, but just wanted to check with people who knew more about it than I did. Doesn't sound like anyone regrets getting a tow hitch.
