Also, using the Start/Stop button would not turn off the Jeep so I just had to let it wipe the front window and kill the battery 100%. Crazy that the Start/Stop button would not turn off the ACC.
That is def weird, this is my first car that doesn't use a simple dumb key, so hadn't thought of all the complications. I know the key has a backup RFID for when it is out of batteries, I would be interested if pushing the button with the key would have turned off ACC?

I carry extra long jumpers, that I was about to wrap around the spare tire, now I need to either carry a battery pack jump starter or normal length jumpers under the passenger seat...

Good point!!! I relocated my jumpers to under the driver side rear seat.

Unless i'm confused what you are talking about, you can jump start the battery by the battery prongs in the engine compartment. They are specifically there for that purpose. You do not need to get to the battery to jump start the vehicle. In case you were not aware.

Who are you speaking to? The OP didn't ask about jump starting. And the other posts which are taking about jump starting are referring to the difficulty in reaching available jumper cables (not the battery) if they are in the trunk area near the spare tire since the hatch is electric only.

Re: Battery under passenger seat

So is the battery for the '14 models under the passenger front seat as well?

Yes, there is no change to the design in that respect...the MY14 is still the same platform as the MY11-13.

I had a dog crate permanently mounted to a board in the back so it can only be removed via the trunk hence I could not simply climb through the back seat.

I guess I'll have to relocate the jumpers to a place other than the trunk.
Is the hatch on the 2011-2013 also power only?

I thought the back can be manually openned as long as it is unlocked.

Didn't work for me when my battery was dead. I don't remember if I tried by pulling on the handle once or twice. I tried it several times, but I might have just pulled the handle once each time. I am not sure if that makes a difference as I didn't know about the pull twice for manual option (and not sure if that works with no power).

Re: Battery under passenger seat

The handle isn't a mechanical device. It's technically a switch. You don't have to hold the handle for the top to open. Just flick it.

EDIT - in your situation, I don't see a workaround for what happened. I think you did the only thing and move your jumper cables.

Us MY 14 guys don't have the option to open just the rear glass. So if it's dead, we'll have to go through the front of the cab.
