That's why I order my vehicles and specify "no dealer prep" as part of the deal. If they touch it, they can keep it. I do my own PDI and remove the plastic. I had a dealer turn a $7 an hour kid lose on my new car to "prep" it. He scratched it all up while washing it....then ruined the paint with a dirty buffer wheel trying to "fix" the scratches. After a major fight, I made them get me another vehicle.

Re: Best way to remove dealer sticker

Warm it up first with a hair dryer, then slowly peel it off.

I took mine off in the dealership parking lot before I drove off with my new Overland. Lucky for me it was 50 degrees out, it had been sitting in the sun, and a corner was already flagged.

When I got home, I then removed the dealership license plate frame in the back, and installed the little foam blocks they forgot to install to keep the rear plate from vibrating.

Re: Best way to remove dealer sticker

Removed all of the lettering on my Navigator and actually drilled holes in the tailgate to install this script from a 1949 Lincoln Cosmopolitan.

A dealer license plate FRAME (which is what you described) does not require any more holes than the license plate.

Now, if you are talking about the factory front license plate holder. Then that's a completely different story.

I asked my dealer to not wax, Armorall anything or put decals. I said they can put a license plate frame on if they want.

They said they don't wax or Armorall them any more. They did what I asked with no issue.

Re: Best way to remove dealer sticker

I don't know why ANYONE would allow a dealer logo on their vehicle, but to each their own I guess.

Dental floss to remove raised logos and Goo-Gone to remove the stickers. Don't use Goof-Off unless Goo-Gone doesn't work. Goof-Off is MUCH stronger.

More importantly...Everyone should be telling their dealer that they will not take delivery if logos are installed or if the front plate is drilled...kills the look of every car.

I refused delivery when the front plate was drilled. Ended up buying from a different dealer altogether.

Re: Best way to remove dealer sticker

I tell them they can leave it on, no problem advertising their dealership. But I want $200 a year X 6 years, which is the average length I own a Jeep. Or THEY can take it off. None have paid me so far.

Exactly!! If they think they can get free advertising on my car then they can pay me for it lol. First thing I do when I get a new vehicle is remove license plate frame and sticker. The cool thing is when I ordered my new 2012 Overland the sales guy knew I was a "car guy" and told them not to bother putting that junk on. He was right, because it would have come off within 5 minutes of getting it home anyway.
As far as peeling stickers off, they are just that, stickers. Nothing special to it. Just peel off and if there is residue left over clean it off.

I bought an eraser wheel that goes on any cordless drill. Works wonders and doesn't harm the paint. I paid $12 for it at automotive supply. I think its called pin stripe removal tool or something. Took care of all my glue that was holding my side moldings on without a hitch.

Ummmmmmm, Logo.....I live in PA, where the state does not mandate that we have license plates on the front of our vehicles....my particular dealer, in his infinite wisdom, took a brand spanking new Overland GC and drilled holes in the front bumper so they could afix their "logo" license plate frame....

Always, always, always control the car buying experience from first dealer contact, to negotiations, to delivery! If not, you get what they give you. I haven't always done that and have my stories to tell also. Now I tell them how I want everything upfront...and won't accept the vehicle unless it is agreed on and followed.

Basically, I don't want them touching it. I can manage the vehicle as delivered from the carrier.

Yeah this is what I did, I told them when they recieve my Jeep, do not put any labels on it and do not drill any holes for the front bumper, if they did it was no deal.

My Jeep arrived with no stickers and no holes
