Thanks for the pic. Something like this is what I was hoping to do but the seats in my '14 don't seem to lay as flat.

Thanks for posting this. Sorry I can't tell from the pic, but how is the bike secured?

Re: Bike transport inside jeep

The bike in the picture is attached to a Saris Triple Track. Amazon link below. I bought the combo rack, fork mount and wheel mount. I only use this setup for long trips where I might go through bad weather. My rack of choice is from 1UP USA. It's built like a tank and the bike is on/off in seconds. Sorry for the links, I forgot how to embed them behind the caption text.

another + for the 1UpUSA. I have a double for my JGC and it's pretty amazing.

only gripe (as well as for any other car with a lift gate) is that the door will hit the rack if it's in the vertical position.

I did this once or twice but unless you do it once in a blue moin it is not worth it. Mud everywhere, you have to be carrful not to scratch stuff plus I still have stains from the chain grease.

I think it should fit. Definitly, If you take front wheel off. To take the front wheel of with QR is a about 20 second job.

Here's another rarely used accessory but useful sometimes. The Chain Johnny...

Thanks much for the info. The 1UP looks really good. I currently have a yakima for the hitch that holds 4 bikes, but is a pain. So if I'm by myself would be interested in the inside mount.

Re: Bike transport inside jeep

I use a Yakima hitch mount rack. It's easy to put it on and the bikes are easy to mount. The rack us sturdy. I will fold down when mounted so you can open the rear door. The arms fold down when not in use. Some people leave their racks mounted all the time, but I am security conscious and I don't leave it mounted, when I not transporting a bike to avoid theft of the rack. I have a rack that can hold 4 bikes. I'd rather do that that take the seat post and front wheel off.

I hear ya! I just would hate to mess up the inside of my Jeep. Knowing me...I would mess up the inside of my Jeep.

This one is from saris, easy to set up and disconnect, only downside is it doesn't fold up when connected but not in use. Made in USA and lifetime warranty though.

I'm with you. You would laugh if you saw the towels, cushions I keep in the back of my Jeep in the event I have to transport something that might scratch something back there. I also don't like the noise of things rattling around so I always keep things that will reduce things touching is other and making noise. This all started with my 2011 GC when my kid put something thru one of the speaker grills.
