Re: Billet silver or granite crystal

I personally don't care for the billet silver. It looks odd to me, flat but almost overly metallic and the metallic flake doesn't seem to lay down properly to me making the finish look uneven depending on the lighting. I like silver, my Lexus is silver I just don't care for the billet silver.

I like the Granite a lot, and also like maximum steel.

I like Billet but not as much as the Bright Silver Metallic they offered pre 14'. What I like about billet is it does look kind of flat but as you and others have mentioned it has a weird dimension to it. Still like it a lot though.

Re: Billet silver or granite crystal

My first offer was for a '14 Overland in Billet Silver, but right after my offer the dealership I was working with called back & said it had been sold (it was at another nearby lot). Within an hour we found a JCG Overland in Maximum Steel - I was a little leery since it appeared to be nearly black.

I'm glad I have the Max Steel now, it has really grown on me. It's hard keeping it clean but it looks superb when it is. I've had a lot of white or light colored vehicles and I was ready for a change. I don't think you can go wrong with either color.

Re: Billet silver or granite crystal

After going back to the dealership today I have decided to go with Granite Crystal. I just don't ill the way the Billet looks although I do like other silver cars. I always wash weekly so keeping it clean shouldn't be a huge issue for me. I've had black cars and it's the water spots that really cause problems. Black looks dirty hours after a wash with pollen and dust. Thanks for the responses.

We have a billet silver Overland with the blue/brown interior and the combination is terrific. But I don't understand your comment above. Billet silver is just full of metallic flakes that make it sparkle. "Flat?" No way. The previous GC silver color--bright silver--is lighter in shade and does not sparkle.

Good choice going with granite. I have billet, the fewer the better.

When I say flat I don't mean totally flat. I agree billet silver and indigo is a sharp combination. What I mean is when billet is in cloudy conditions it takes on a matte light grey. In bright sunlight you can see the metallic in it.

The granite is nothing like it is portrayed on the Jeep website - it's MUCH darker in real life - another shade of black really.

Not at all. I have the Granite and it never looks black. It is best described as a medium grey with tones of metal flake and brown undertones, but the brown only comes out in intense lighting.

Sorry man but half those pictures look black to me. I ordered a granite Summit - the sales mgr let me change colors because the color was so much darker than the Jeep website showed.

Hey, it's an each to his own - glad you like the color, that's what counts.

I got Blackforest Green... Most people would not like it, but I love the color, especially with the saddle tan / black interior, and I like not having a vehicle the same color as most cars on the road these days. Like you said...to each his own!
