Billet silver or granite crystal

I'm purchasing a 2014 Overland in the next day or so and am having trouble deciding between colors. I like to maintain a clean vehicle and know silver will be easier to keep looking sharp. Are there any known paint flaws or issues with either colors? The silver didn't look at metallic and somewhat flat compared to the granite crystal. I only plan to keep the car for 3-4 years.

You've looked in person? Granite is not much of a silver. It is pretty dark. I have Billet and love it. It is gorgeous and shows nice complexity in the sun. Granite does too. Its just dark.

The granite will look great clean and shined up. If you are only keep 3 to 4 years then you prob don't need to consider that silver would likely hold up better for the long haul. That said, some people really don't care for the amount of chrome so the silver helps downplay that. I've got a granite overland on order myself but sometimes wish id gone w/ silver. I've had a silver car for the past 9 years though and have decided to change it up.

I really wanted off rd adventure II and chose that as well but dag those 20s would look nice with granite. Oh well I'm sure I will still love it and can't wait for it to get here.

Estimated delivery 2/15!!!!

I've seen both in person and it looked like the Silver was a little cloudy..it didn't look like the paint job was shiny, if that makes sense. It may have been because it was filthy and had snow on the roof. That was my concern. If there are know quality control issues with the billet.

Granite here, The billet silver has almost like a hint of purple to it under certain light.

I was going to get Granite Crystal... until I saw one in Maximum Steel . Out of the two choices, I would go with Granite Crystal but if you are open to it, I would go with Maximum Steel. It looks like a dark gray when it's cloudy or night but in the day time, sun shining on it, it looks like a grayish bluish color. It looks really nice.

I think the thing with Billet is that it looks more like a flat then a metallic, and honestly I think that makes it stand apart from the rest of the colors. I don't think it's an issue with the paint, I think that's the way it's intended. It looks the same way on some Wranglers I have seen and on the new Cherokee. Granite is also a stunning color, so is Maximum Steel but both are hard to keep clean. I think Billet is your choice if you are looking for low maintenance.

Granite Crystal Metallic. May not have the Jeep, but I'll still drop in and keep up with the news.

Granite Crystal is pretty hard to keep clean.
I can get max 2 weeks out of it before I have to wash it.
You can see dust and dirt really well...

Re: Billet silver or granite crystal

I've got the Billet Silver and love it! Living in Minnesota the silver takes quite a bit of snowy road grime to start looking bad. I was initially torn between this color and the Granite. Ultimately it came down to the fact that althought the Granite is a dark gray, it does have brown overtones. Whereas the Silver has blue overtones. It really comes down to personal preference...
