Do like I did and marry a woman who loves to go fast. This way when I tire of my SUV, I can swap and drive her M3 for a day or two.

Re: Bimmer to WK2?

I just got out of an 09 M3 into the WK2 and while I miss the race car performance in the turns and head snapping acceleration, I am enthralled with my JGC. Its (which should be obvious) a much much better all around vehicle. I miss the iDrive interface and the ease of use for the entertainment perhaps the most. The JGC has more, but its a little more cumbersome to use. There are always trade offs, and looking back I would do this deal everytime.

Re: Bimmer to WK2?

We have a 335i as my wife's car. I'll keep that for performance, and take the V6 WK2. The V8 in the WK2 was so far from the fun of the 335i that I didn't see the point and would rather the fuel economy of the V6. I've heard other with the same sentiments.

Re: Bimmer to WK2?

Couldn't part with the 335 or my wifes X5, so we just added the JGC Overland.

Re: Bimmer to WK2?

I have a 335xi and I am seriously considering the wk2.

The Bmw is not up for the poor road conditions in the Northern NJ suburbs. These conditions are sure to get worse with the budget cuts that are being made.

The truly exceptional driving experience, craftsmanship of the bmw and technology is why you pay twice as much. Things like Heads Up Display, hill descent control, lane departure warning camera (steering wheel vibrates if you're out of the lane), will be missed for sure.
The GC has hill descent control. I do wish it had a HUD though, always liked those. Lane departure warning is for the geriatric set.

Re: Bimmer to WK2?

I left BMW when Chris Bangle fudged their rear ends and went through AMGs and two Audis and dumped one of the Audis for the WK2. It "feels" like an Audi/Mercedes to me when I drive it and the Hemi almost makes up the lower performance numbers. Regrets?None whatsoever. The one thing I certainly do NOT miss is the front end scraping from my performance sedans. The Audi and Mercedes we keep, an A6 and E550, are stock ride height. The 550 is going soon because I like the Grand better for everything but the stoplight grand prix although the Hemi WK2 holds it's own.

Re: Bimmer to WK2?

I actually had narrowed my new car search down to 2 cars. The Infiniti G37x sedan with sport package and the BMW 335 xDrive. I test drove both and they both have their pros and cons. The BMW while nicer got quite pricey when fitted with similar options to the G37x.

Then I stopped by the Jeep dealer one day on a lark and test drove a Overland/Hemi.

I ordered the Jeep a week later on Dec. 6th

I must say the wait is painful and likely to get more so as my current lease ends on Feb. 16th ;(

Ha, thought about that but the mrs. got the crossover (gasp) and doesn't trust the reliability of the jeep. Even though I told her it got the chassis of the MB and significant upgrades to the interior. Ideally we would trade her car in and i keep the bimmer I may have to sweeten the pot, like diaper duty for a month when I'm home.

Re: Bimmer to WK2?

I sold my 06 BMW 330i 6 speed and bought my Overland Hemi. I couldn't be happier with the switch, minus one thing -gas mileage. But, that is to be expected.

Re: Bimmer to WK2?

i am dumping my 525i for a Limited i have on order. the Limited rides every bit as nice. my trip computer on my 525i hasnt been reset in a year and shows my average speed as just over 30 mph reflecting plenty of suburban stop and go. thus, the vaunted BMW handling is really not even relevant to me, not that i think the new Limited is really going to handle significantly worse.
