sorry for the delay..
The insurance sends an adjuster to look at the vehicles if you have comprehensive insurance(flood, theft, fire, etc)
He/she then reports it to the insurance company, they call you with a figure and you agree or not.
If not you have to prove why.
You then have to send them a power of attorney, and the titles of the vehicles if you own them.
If you have a loan on the vehicles they pay off the loan and send you the remainder.
I owned the mustang and the bmw outright so they just sent me the checks for them after they received the titles.
The jeep was financed so they sent me the difference between the resale value and what I owed the finance company.
It took a lot of phone calls, sometimes 2 a day to keep the ball rolling and to make sure there was no errors on the insurance companies part; there was quite a few on their part.
That's all in a nutshell.
