Black carpet?

Looked at some Limiteds with the Frost/Black interior and curious about experiences with the black carpet. I dont really get why Jeep chose to have the contrasting black carpet with tan interior. But real question is if black carpet is a disaster for showing dirt. The one i got into on the lot had grass and dirt and it showed it much, much worse that if the carpet was tan and matched the seats. Any experience out there with black carpets? or from Jeep, what's with the non-standard color combos?

Re: Black carpet?

I think the black carpet looks great as a contrasting color. Most manufactures are doing this nowadays. I think it is done for two reasons 1. aesthetics (this will freak out the folks that have to match everything) and 2. to not show stains.

Yes it does show dirt and sand VERY easy. That is the only reason I hate it, because I am a clean freak. But the other two options out way the clean factor for me.

Re: Black carpet?

Light carpeting looks like ass after any use, and black carpet blends into the background and becomes something you do not see. As others have pointed out, using black carpet and sometimes black dash/trim, contrasted with light colored seating, is common in many higher end vehicles.

Re: Black carpet?

I've had other cars with black leather and black carpet. Like others have said, black shows everything. In terms of stains, up north where it snows, salt stains are a big problem so good fitting mats can help.

For my other car with beige interior and carpets, I decided to go with black floor liners and after one winter I'm so sorry I went that route. The floors look terrible all the time. So I bought beige mats to replace the black.

Nothing is perfect, so buy what colors you like and adjust to it.

Re: Black carpet?

It makes the lighter colored seats "pop" a bit more than an all beige interior...my biggest problem with it is that my huskies white fur shows up on it like crazy...your best bet it to just get some good rubber floor liners.
