Brake pad dust

I was wondering from the folks with Hemi Overlands, what type of brake pad material is used, ( semi metallic?) and do the create a lot of dust?

Has anyone switched to a cermaic pad?

Re: Brake pad dust

I had an '11 Hemi Overland, bought new, just recently traded it. I noticed very little brake dust. Not sure what is used.

I agree! Almost no brakepad dust, whatsoever! Love it!

Re: Brake pad dust

Both my Acura TL's had crazy brake dust. My 14 Limited Hemi has none.

Re: Brake pad dust

They should be OE ceramic formulation which minimizes dust. The European vehicle friction has to pass their R90 specifications. Those formulations are more apt to dust.

Re: Brake pad dust

I had a 2012 Overland Hemi and now the 2014 Summit Hemi, I don't really notice any brake dust. I once had a 2010 BMW M3 Coupe and a 2003 Mustang SVT Cobra and those things had a lot of brake dust just from traveling 20 miles. Miss the performance of those 2, but sure don't miss the brake dust.

Re: Brake pad dust

I checked out Rock auto for some pads and their site claims that the OE pads are ceramic Akebona as OE supplier so I guess I dont have to swap pads.

A lot of cars come with the semi-metallic and those pads throw a lot of corrosive dust.

I dont want to ruin these nice 20" wheels on mine, but guess I am good to go!

Thanks for the replys/
