Brake system already going out?

Have a service appointment set for Friday morning. The past several days I've noticed that my brake pedal feels really soft. While stopped at a red-light, for example, the pedal will slowly creep all the way to the floor. During normal driving I need to press it harder too. Pretty uncomfortable to deal with. Vehicle still seems to stop fine, just a PITA, and definitely not normal. Fluid level looks fine in the reservoir.

'14 Grand Cherokee Overland 4x4 with 10,8xx miles. It'll be one year of ownership next month.

Has anyone else had a problem like this?

Let me guess, you have an early build...
I think that will be the next problem I report - when I get back my car, after the radiator gets fixed. 10,xxx miles as well.

Re: Brake system already going out?

I can understand all the problems with the electronics being blamed on 'early build'. But I wonder if things like brakes and radiators in the early 14s are any different than the ones used in the 13s.

I don't know the answer, but I didn't think the 14 was a complete mechanical overhaul.

MY12 does the same thing I've just never thought about it.

Granite Crystal Metallic. May not have the Jeep, but I'll still drop in and keep up with the news.

Re: Brake system already going out?

When your brake pedal slowly goes to the floor when stopped, does it feel like it could be a low vacuum situation to the master cylinder booster due to the lower engine rpms at idle?

Low vacuum will make the pedal feel harder, not soft. Pedal slowly sinking to the floor is most likely bad seals in the master cylinder.

This was my thought too.
