Kind of off subject, but for anyone concerned about privacy and inclined to take control, I highly recommend rooting your phone. After that, there are apps you can istall that add "per permission" settings to Android. You can then approve or deny individual permissions per app. Stock, it's all or nothing. I find it liberating to be able to use an app and still block it's access to my contacts, call history, or location.

Yup, rooted my S4, and agreed, blocking the apps makes a lot of sense to keep some privacy...

Denying access to "location" and "wake lock" on nearly all apps except Maps will increase battery life tremendously. Waking the phone up to check location periodically is a huge drain. I'm now getting 6.5 to 7.5 hours display on time with a stock rooted S5. That gets me through an entire day of really heavy use.

Most of the reviews of the two coming out of the LA Auto show favored android auto over apple Carplay. I was surprised, to be honest. Most in the media readily drool all over apple anything. Maybe the tide is finally turning. :P

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Jeep joins Google's Open Automotive Alliance

Greetings,

In reviewing the current list for the OAA Apps, the 3rd party navi apps were not their as well.

Time will tell with both systems.

Still sitting on the sidelines.

Best for now.

Yup, you're right about that. Google just released their dev api last week so hopefully soon we will see apps other than just spotify.

Yup, hopefully, we'll see some movement in the auto industry soon. It would be awesome if 2015 is still the model year for Jeeps. (of course, I highly doubt it)

I highly doubt it. The 14's have the same radio as the 15's, but are unable to get the latest updates.
Even if it is the same radio when the droid or apple car play are released, if history repeats itself, Jeep will have a software update that will make sure it only works for new unsold jeeps.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Jeep joins Google's Open Automotive Alliance

Greetings,

I agree as well, FCA want to protect Uconnect as much as possible. They just finished what they called a major update to the apps. The 2016 is just months away and I most likely at this NYIAS next month, they will not have answer. I wonder if they will update the processors or even have a real HD screen.

Best for now.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Jeep joins Google's Open Automotive Alliance

So what are the odds that the 2016 GC will have Android Auto out of the gate? That would be enough to tip me over to waiting (and taking a chance on the updated 3.6L).
