Build codes 2TEA and 22E

Hi all,

I just received the build sheet for my GC today from Milous (thanks Milous).

There's two build codes on the last page, 2TEA (Customer Preferred Package 2TE) and 22E (Customer Preferred Package 22E). Does anyone know what these are?

I didnt ask for any packages or factory extras, so I'm curious as to what they are.

Re: Build codes 2TEA and 22E

I don't know what those exact codes are, especially since yours is an export. However, some codes are just used to denote the trim level or standard equipment. For instance, Package 26E just means a Laredo V6 4x4 with standard equipment. 26P means Overland V6 4x4 with standard equipment. So 22E is probably for the Laredo CRD with standard equipment.

Re: Build codes 2TEA and 22E

errr no. My Laredo 4x2 has 26E (think that is the "E" group) and 2TEA.

What we need is a complerte option code list which is often found in a service manual </rant>

I'm just going by what Edmunds says and it says that Quick Order Package 26E on the Laredo is the "Vehicle with Standard Equipment". I had originally only looked at the 4x4, but it lists the same for the 4x2. They make no mention of the 2TEA.

Re: Build codes 2TEA and 22E

I also have 2TEA and 26E on my build sheet. Mine is a Laredo E V6 4x4.

I know that 26E = Laredo E
I have no idea what 2TEA relates to.

Re: Build codes 2TEA and 22E

"26E" Is the base Laredo model with 3.0L engine. Codes like "2TEA" are used for internal tracking of various groups of equipment, nothing that you would have checked a box for when ordering.

Re: Build codes 2TEA and 22E

That was an interesting and very carefully worded answer (with a typo). On the build sheet however I suspect that the reason "26E" is listed under "optional equipment" for a 2012 as "customer preferred package 26E" is because it refers to the "E" group.

Do think this is what was standard in 2011 but became a mandatory with towing package & hard to avoid otherwise option when the decontenting occured to meet a price point (undercut the Ford Escape by a few dollars until the destination charge went from $825 to $925 this year).

Just my opinon of course.

ps looks like option codes on the sheet are really three letters and a suffix: S-standard, P-part of a package, A- accessory - am I close ?

pps expect a 2012 Laredo X to have both the 26E and 26X packages

ppps interesting what is online when you ask the right question.

Re: Build codes 2TEA and 22E

I have 25P and 2TPA on my 2011 Overland V8.

These codes are redundant for build sheet purposes, the components you have built into the vehicle are listed elsewhere on the sheet. You can look at these codes as accounting codes for option groups, similar to Price class, Vehicle family, Vehicle specification, zone.... a bunch of others.

You would not find 2TPA or probably not 25P in the service manual. These codes are entirely different than those found in the parts book.

Re: Build codes 2TEA and 22E

Neat. So we have [2 (Grand Cherokee)][4 - 5.7L|6 - 3.6L|9 - 6.4L][E-Laredo|H-Limited|L-SRT8|P- Overland|R-Overland Summit|X-Laredo X|Z-Altitude]

It is all starting to come together since I found that April 2008 codes listing. All logical. Automotive companies all think alike in some ways (or at least their CAD/CAM systems do.

For example I suspect "6042" is an internal line designation and all of the "packages" may relate (among other things) to wiring harnesses. Have gotten quite far in just three months, Google is a great help once you know what questions to ask & the more documents I find, the more correlations I have.

Eventually Chrysler-Jeep-FLAT will realize it is in their own best interest to make the information available, SBO never works, and a good forum can be an asset to dealers.

Re: Build codes 2TEA and 22E

Some day I may understand why the definition of these codes would be of any help to any of us, but at the moment I just don't get it.

Now a factory service manual could be of some help.

Re: Build codes 2TEA and 22E

a) find it useful when going through the parts list to tell which part goes with what option e.g. if were going to change from a manual to an automatic temperature control, the first step would be to scan for parts listed for HAF and not HAD. Computers are good at this but first you need to know what the codes are.
b) for me this kind of discovery is a stress reliever
c) for a collector car this kind of information can seriously change its value (see '69 Corvette with ZL1 or 78 TransAm WS6). Eventually it may be important to be able to tell the difference between a real SRT8 (29L) and a clone.

Agree, I would rather have a service manual & will eventually but for now this is usefull (and the salescode.pdf I linked above should be in WK2 next to the parts manual, wonder how long it will remain accessible.)
