Yes, and it developed a rattle that got worse to the point of having to replace the steering column. It literally feels like a 100k mile car with all the rattles and looseness, hopefully this fixes it enough for when I trade it in.

Re: Build quality, construction and reliability of new generation WK2

Have been reading every post on here since I joined, and it seems like people are all making jokes about different parts failing and numerous problems they've had in the short time period people have owned their new WK2. even things like making fun of UAW workers building our vehicles.

Wondering if I should just wait til a later 2012 model or 2013 model year so they have time to fix all of these numerous problems. And they sure seem to be a lot right now. Then again, there are tons of new WK2s on the road and a lot seem to have no problem at all.

Had my Limited V8 since December. 10200 miles and no problems so far except for the common lousy throttle response at some RPM's. Hopefully when I get the TSB upgrade done this will go away. Some posts here say it's like a different vehicle afterwards.

The WK2 is no Honda, but it seems that the flurry of TSBs for the 2011 MY have licked most of the issues except for the RHR lost-memories glitch, which hopefully will be addressed by a software update before long, and maybe the saddle wear problem. It really gets into a realm of diminishing returns to wait at this juncture unless you want diesel or are fixated on an eight-speed transmission.

That said, if you get an Overland, which has QuadraLift, the factory MaxCare option would be worth considering if you keep your vehicle beyond the standard warranty period. It's $1,850 online for lifetime coverage with $100 deductible, less for finite-years coverage.

Bought my 4x4 summit in April (build date March). Since then the only major problem I had is the quadra lift failure in week one. After replacement of the control module and compressor it has worked perfectly. I have only minor squeeks and rattles (intermittent really) that are not a problem. I can't get any apple products to cooperate with the RHR but since I'm moving away from Apple I don't care. I have no complaints about the drive train (Hemi) or ride, except for tire vibration at 70 mph which I finally brought to the dealer's attention last week. My biggest gripe continues to be about the poorly fitted plastic around the otherwise beautiful steering wheel. Dealer says they will replace but the parts are on backorder. Overall I'm pretty pleased given this is my first American car and first brand new car ever.
