Re: Build status thread for Overlands with Tech package

I have no idea why you guys are not getting dates but I don't see how it can be the Tech option alone. I ordered on Oct 5th and I picked it up today. It was at the dealer on the 29th. Someting else must be a factor.

The original availabilty that my dealer told me for the tech pack was in the middle of Dec. Im sorry...but you guys ordered your Jeep knowing that. Just trying to be the sane, completely nuetral side of this......LOL.

^^This.....I also was told 6-8... ABSOLUTELY no later than 3 months. That's only a few weeks away!

Re: Build status thread for Overlands with Tech package

Over my 72 years I have bought or leased a new vehicle every 3 to 4 years. Even the leased vehicles were ordered. GM and Chrysler mostly. None have taken more than 4 to 6 weeks. When I asked if it would be 4 to 6 weeks when I ordered, dealer said no more than 6 to 8 max. I like the new Grand and drove many other vehicles before we chose the Grand. My sales person is now squirming trying to keep me from canceling my order but not offering any incentives. I am on the fence because the more I read and research the Grand the more I like it. We will see.........

Re: Build status thread for Overlands with Tech package

I spent much of my life wearing out company cars....often driving 60 to 70K per year....and buying every two years...or so. I have ordered all kinds of cars and trucks. Though I have slowed down a bit.....the last one was a '07 GMC Acadia....sight unseen....and among the first delivered in my state.

Seems to me the difference here is that Jeep didn't have all the new packages available at the time of our orders....and I never experienced that before (or don't remember it) on vehicles I have ordered (mostly GM). Although the Acadia roll-out was fraught with some issues too (tranny programming was big).

My Jeep dealer was quite candid about dates and was very close in estimating the vehicle ETA with options I wanted. Mine is on the truck on its way to my dealer now....just as he said.

The other thing that seems to be a variable with Jeep is dealer "allotment". I think some dealers get preferred treatment based on sales....but I don't fully understand how this plan works.

Re: Build status thread for Overlands with Tech package

I asked about allotment to both jeep and the dealer....they seemed appalled that I would think one dealer would get preference over another. Said that that wasn't true and not the issue as to why I'm still waiting.

Then again, I'm sure they will say whatever they have to for me not to cancel the order.

Re: Build status thread for Overlands with Tech package

When I ordered my '06 GTO it took about 4.5 months. Then again I ordered it about a month before '06 models went into production. And riding on a slow boat from Australia for about a month doesn't help matters either.

I stress patience but I'm probably even more anxious than my wife for her Overland to come in so we can get rid of her current TSX.

Re: Build status thread for Overlands with Tech package

My wife works for an ad agency that does work for Chrysler. The news she is getting out of Detroit is that Overland orders are not backlogged, simply delayed. They are pumping out Overland orders on a daily basis. Delay may have something to do with assembly plants sharing production lines with the 2011 Durango and re-tooling calibration, scheduled to hit the lots soon. Obviously Jeep didn't anticipate the demand for Tech/Saddle and are focusing on orders made prior to production starting on these options in mid November. For the rest of us that ordered recently, we may be waiting until January.

Re: Build status thread for Overlands with Tech package

OK so now I have been told (by my dealer) my jeep is "Currently being painted" and has an assigned ship date of December 1, 2010. He said that he has no clue why the date has passed, but its the information he has. I guess we shall see.

Re: Build status thread for Overlands with Tech package

Just reviewed my POC once again and noticed the sales code '4H4' Special Scheduling Condition VII. This code is applied when certain parts are not in stock therefore not allowing a scheduled build date. In other words, orders will not move to D1 until these parts become available for that particular order. Most likely Tech Package items. Maybe everyone knows this already.

It would be nice if Jeep or at the very least, our dealerships, would inform us properly. In my opinion these delays are cause for a further discount from the manufacturer. Our trades are losing value every day and we continue to make payments on our vehicles as well. And some of us have put a deposit down just to place the order. These dealerships should all be giving us loaner Jeeps just for the hassle but I know that is unrealistic. It's absurd to think that these orders would take any longer than 6-8 weeks to order-build-ship-arrive at final destination.

We are D1 and ordered the Tech pkg. Our "scheduled" delivery is tomorrow. Haven't budged out of D1 according to Milous' tracking. Might be something to this part issue.

Re: Build status thread for Overlands with Tech package

The 4h4 code is interesting...2 weeks ago I was a c status and asked to have the tech package added and the 730 removed. I was told it was too late and moved to d status a few days later. But I still have the 730n rer on my poc and the 4h4. Could it be that delaying me? Who knows. No one apparently. Maybe the tech package was added but not on my poc, doubt it. The mystery continues.
