sorry sella - I know exactly how you feel. When you've finally got it all bad thoughts will go away. It is really an amazing automobile. Hang in there. Be happy !

Sweeet can't wait for mine to arrive in a couple months so I can try out those features for myself. Can't wait for the adaptive cruise, bixenon and adaptive high beams. A/C seats and heated steering wheel are the other two best options ever made. Soooo excited :-)

For such a seemingly mundane trick as dimming your brights automatically, this is one of those little features that delights the user. My daughter used it while driving us around last night and it always triggers an "oh, cool!" reaction.

I agree!! Its these little things that add up and make this such an amazing car. For the type of driving I do and the roads I use these headlights on the Limited/Overland models are going to be amazing.

Just curious, since I read that the HID projectors are bi-xenon, how do those function with the smart beam high beams? I dont know for sure but I assume that the halogen high beam still does the normal fading to bright and dim then when lit to full intensity the bi-xenon activates as well?

I don't think the halogens do anything at all when you have the bi-xenons. Well of course, other than be DRL's, but I disabled that when I drove it home.

The halogens are only the DRL's. Bi-Xenon is actually a misnomer, it actually means there is only one bulb but it performs both functions. It can either be mechanically aimed higher or use a mechanical shutter/reflector to redirect the light based on the mode selected. I'm pretty sure the Jeep implementation uses a movable reflector that works in conjunction with the auto leveling system to aim the beam higher when you select high beams.

No I understand what bi-xenon is as my Acura TL had them and they were amazing. It simply uses the same D2S HID bulb inside the projector for both low and high beam. The only thing that changes is the cutoff shield inside the projector lowers allowing the entire output of the light to exit the projector. So im still confused. Jeep advertises the headlights as bi-xenon with smart beam high beams.
Bi-xenon is exactly what I described above, and smart beam (if similar to the 05-10 system) uses the halogen high beam bulb as the high beam and changes its intensity based on whats ahead of you. So if you guys are saying the inner lamp assemblies do nothing more than DRL then how does the smart beam system work? So does the bi-xenon portion over ride smart beam if you push the lever forward for high beams.

Now im all confused. lol

I think it's the same as your Acura and not like the older system but I could be wrong. Maybe start a thread on this topic and some who have taken delivery can chime in. They may not see these posts buried in this thread.

Re: Build status thread for Overlands with Tech package

Well, 16 Weeks today since I placed my order. I hope that it arrives today so I can get it tonight. Hopefully the winter storm we had over night does not delay the car hauler from Cheyenne, WY. Icy and snow packed roads will be a great test as to the handling in these conditions.
