Sounds about right. The promo I got in the mail last week was $1500 off diesel and $500 off others.
While those who like diesel seem pretty passionate about them, most folks don't see a need for the perceived (or real) advantages. I don't know anyone looking for a new vehicle who is considering one, Jeep or otherwise.
Unless you are really concerned about MPG, or low end torque will be more than a talking point for your daily driver, diesels will have to sell without a premium price. That means lower the price, raise the price of other options, or a combination of the two.
If we get rid of ethanol, gas prices will drop enough to outweigh the MPG advantage and we can send all the diesels to Europe or our friends down under.
