California Edition

This may seem like a stupid question but I was wondering if you guys see alot of California edition models out there. I recently bought a Summit California edition and have yet to see another one on the road(even though I live in the bay area, CA).
P. S. The difference is body colored door handles and a chrome honeycomb front grill.

Re: California Edition

Honestly, I don't think I EVER saw another Cali-edition since I got mine a year ago.

I have to say though that in my area, I hardly see any Summits at all. Even 'regular' GCs aren't spotted in high numbers - and I have no idea why...

I haven't seen one in the wild yet, but the unique features are too subtle for me to notice if I am keeping my eyes on the road.

Re: California Edition

I have seen a couple on the streets and plenty sitting at the dealers. I refer to it as the Platinum edition as the only place I have ever seen it called California edition is here lol.

Your info regarding the differences isn't really accurate. All Summits have the chrome grill inserts. The exterior differences are as follows:
-body color matched lower skirts (compared to granite colored ones on all other summits)
-body color matched door handles and mirror caps (compared to chrome)
-all the parts that are normally chrome on the regular Summit are "Platinum", more or less silver colored (grill rings, lower front bumper appliques, fog bezels, rear tail light bezels, and tear lower bumper appliques, silver painted wheels)

So it's just a exterior cosmetic package to change things up a bit.

Re: California Edition

I've seen only one. There are a lot of new Grand Cherokees around here. I saw a granite Summit and a white SRT yesterday, and a black Overland and a silver Overland today.

Re: California Edition

Might be an Illinois thing but I see plenty on dealer lots.
A lot of 15 Summits in general still around here on lots and I remember the same last year this time.

Thanks for the clarification, I didn't expect to like the California edition but I prefer the body colored door handles.
Also wondering is the summit edition the only way to get dual exhaust with a V6?
That special bumper and exhaust makes a big difference IMO

Re: California Edition

Altitude, Overland, High Altitude also all have dual exhaust with any engine including the gas Pentium V6.

Re: California Edition

Lots of Grand Cherokees of all kinds out here on the plains. Many Altitudes, many Overlands, many Limiteds. A few Summits and some Laredos.

Winter doesn't stand a chance.

Re: California Edition

Tons of Laredo/Limited/Overlands around the CLEV with some Summits and a few Platinums...its a lower market share brand (1.1% in US) and then the top price point within...bound to see few...think about SRT's....only 5,500 (just 3% of JGC sales) in all US for '14....I've only seen 8 or so in 2 years, in my area...c more when I travel sometimes...c more now that I am shopping one

I also live in the Bay Area - Redwood City; where are you located?

The Platinum pkg was a must have for me when shopping for my Summit, because I really do prefer the body colored door handles, mirrors, etc. However, my 2015 Summit V6 rig basically fell into my lap and I couldn't turn it down, and it doesn't have the Platinum pkg but I'm getting used to it.

I haven't seen many Summits around here at all, and only 1 or 2 with Platinum pkg. When I was looking on dealer lots 3 months ago and up to a year ago, I saw a ton of Summit Platinum pkg models. Many have since moved but for quite a while it's all I saw in the Summit trim around here.

Re: California Edition

I was shopping for a Summit with the Platinum Package as I am deathly allergic to chrome. Fortunately, the High Altitude package was released which is basically sits between the Overland & Summit in terms of features. Looks like a Summit with blacked out trim.
