Smile Can I get a ventilated seats addon?

Well my JGC Laredo Max Steel is finally here after a 2 month wait. The ship on its way to Bahrain ran into engine trouble....
Picked it up last night and so far everything is nice and smooth.
My car came with cloth seats that are heated. It makes no sense to have heated seats in a country that hits 113 degrees F in May. Is there anyway that the dealer can add the ventilated seats option? Or is that not possible, or too expensive?
But loving it so far even though I've only driven it like 50 Kms.... so far

Re: Can I get a ventilated seats addon?

I would like to know this as well - is there an option to add cooled seats after build?

With cloth I think it would be rather simple - just find a place to mount a couple fans (like from a PC case) under the upholstery. Wire them to a switch and you're all set! With the standard leather since it isn't perforated you can't really do much.

I am more talking about actually adding the cooled seats that come with the lux package. Is there a way to get these installed at a later date and if so any rough idea on cost?

Didn't you think about that while ordering the vehicle? Now the money you thought you saved will be spent putting the seats that you should have got in the first place in.

Re: Can I get a ventilated seats addon?

That kinda depends on if the Jeep is prewired. Not a whole lot of demand and have not seen that discussed here. Then there are the dash switches, dunno if there is a controller. Seems easier to get one of those seating pads with cooling built in.

Re: Can I get a ventilated seats addon?

Adding OEM ventilated seats would be incredibly expensive. You would have to buy both complete front seats which would be leather and not match the rest of your car. Then after you get the seats you will have to somehow get them to work and I would assume that would be very difficult to attempt using OEM components.

There are however aftermarket ventilated seat kits which would be wayyyyyyy cheaper and easier to accomplish. The kits come with fans and the spacer material which is required to allow the cool air to flow throughout the surface area. The kits won't work on all seats though. I tried to install one on my 07 TL and there was just no way it was gonna work. Unfortunately this is yet another case of someone buying a vehicle not equipped exactly like they want and now they wanna add stuff from the higher model.

Goodluck and congrats on the new Jeep.

James

Re: Can I get a ventilated seats addon?

Actually here in Bahrain, we don't have much of a choice when it comes to "building" your vehicle. We get a Laredo (not the X), a limited, an overland and an SRT. We have no choice in any extra addons when reserving the vehicle. I was just surprised that the seats came heated. When weather here hits 40 degrees end of April and peaks to almost 50 degrees by end of June, we have no need for heated seats. Dealer said it was like the red button on James Bond vehicles... to eject people you don't like riding with you. He was trying to be funny.
Thanks to all who attempted to help! :-)

Re: Can I get a ventilated seats addon?

I hate it when you ask a simple question and then someone makes a comment that basically says you were an idiot for getting into your mess. Then you have to post a polite explanation.

Although we are reminded again that different parts of the world often get different basic Jeeps and options.

Anything is possible, but it would be incredibly expensive. You're probably talking wiring, controllers, maybe the seats themselves - it would probably end up costing 5-10% of the vehicle cost. If I were in your shoes I'd either figure out how to rig something in the seats or live without. They also make venting mats that go over your seats but I don't think you are looking for that.
