It was said Mineral grey metallic delayed to Nov. Since there is waiting time, can we place an order of mineral grey?

Yes it should be available to order as others mentioned, about 2 weeks ago. Its not in production yet.

I'm about to place an order on a 2011 Overland, but I'm unsure of the color mineral grey. It looks amazing on the commercials, but I am curious as to how it will look in the real world under normal light. I currently have an '06 Overland that is black but I want to change it up a bit and now I'm torn between Charcoal or Mineral Grey for the new GC...any suggestions?

I am aware that other Chrysler products have this color option but it's like comparing apples to oranges here, it's hard to do a comparison.

Anyone have this color on the new jeep yet that they can post pictures of. I would like to put my order in next week sometime.

Cheers:)

It was said that some of those early commercials were not Mineral Gray, but a custom color of some form of platinum for the show vehicles. I've seen several WKs in Mineral Gray, and personally find it flat in most lighting conditions, to the point that I wouldn't order this if it's the same color. It just doesn't have enough sparkle to the metallic. I need to see if this will be a different version of the color once an example hits the dealer's lot.

I'm torn; my kids think the bright silver, which I like, is "boring" and they like the charcoal gray. I like the charcoal too and darker colors in general, but the thought of washing it every other day to keep it looking clean (to my liking) is what has me torn. The mineral gray might be the happy median but there are no real samples of it anywhere to be found.

2011 Mineral Gray is most likely very similiar to the Mineral Gray offered on the 08, 09. The color is flat looking. I ordered the black perl paint. Had the same color on my 05 GC Hemil The perl effect is stunning in sunlight, and the color (under various shades of lighting) appears to more dark charcoal as opposed to a brilliant (non-metallic) black. The saddle/black interior I ordered will be a stunning contrast to the exterior black. Hopefully...!!!

I wonder why the color was delayed.
I think Ill go for the charcoal. That should shimmer right? Or should i just go for black already?

My issue with black is that it shows abs everything abrasion, dust, rain drop and so on. But with charcoal it wont be much different. What ive seen here in Edmonton is a ton of black gcs on the lots and it seems lame bc those will eventually be all on the streets. Oh there is a black one...oh wait...another one just drove by...

See what I mean? $50k is a solid investment so I want to make sure I pick the right color. Help me out here lol!

As I was looking down the list of delayed production items I noticed that the chrome wheel option is off the table now. I know it's a matter of taste and chrome or chrome clad wheels have their down sides. Any info on this? I am waiting until early 2011 to order.

I don't see a difference between black brilliant and black pearl. I do not see an option for black pearl anywhere as an available color.
"Black Pearl" isn't a color choice. They probably mean either "Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl" or "Blackberry Pearl."

I ordered Mineral Gray (PDM sales code) on Sept 21 when it became orderable in the dealers system. At that time it was not in production yet. I called Jeep 2 weeks ago and was told this color is now being produced on the assembly line along with another late availability option I chose, the Tech Package (code ADG). As of last Friday there was no VIN assigned yet in Jeeps' system. Dealer tells me I should have this 5.7L Limited by Thanksgiving.

I was told the tech package doesn't go into production till 11/18?? I also ordered on 9/21 but I'm thinking more like Christmas!!

I would just be worried about ordering a color I have not seen yet on the car yet. Pictures are one thing and seeing it in person is another.

I like the pictures of the mineral grey....the only downside is the chrome trim blends in to much. Otherwise it is a pretty color and will not show dirt and scratches that much.

Yeah I know what you mean.

The mineral grey color looks great in the pamphlets, and on the commercials. But I've been told on earlier posts that the color in the real world is flat and dull and that the color in the commercials isn't even a color that is available. The only thing I can compare the mineral grey to is the RAM 1500 Trucks I've seen in Mineral Grey. This is disappointing because the color does not seem metallic at all. I wish the color could be like a Brilliant Mineral Grey Crystal Pearlcoat or something...then I'd get it!

I changed my order to Brilliant Black Crystal Pearlcoat. Can't go wrong from that. I was going to go charcoal, but it's so close to black that I might as well get black. Charcoal will look like a faded black when side by side to a true black GC.

My order was placed on 10/21...so I probably won't see my vehicle till when? After Christmas? They told me 6-8 weeks.

Agreed, that would be very nice! Seeing some of the commercials, I believe the one showing the front wheel bouncing over a rocky trail could be Mineral Gray. The one through the redwood forest doesn't appear to be the same as what I've seen on Dodges or the WK.

Hey guys, I don't know what's up with this company that makes these great vehicles. Their ability to track an order and give reliable information on status is from the stone age!

I ordered a 5.7L Limited with Mineral Grey & Colision Avoidance Pkg. on Sept 20. These 2 items were late availibility. I called the customer service center on Oct 8 and Oct 15 for a status based on my VON. There was no VIN yet, but I was assured, without a doubt on both calls that Mineral Grey and Col. Avd. package was in production on the Assy. line.

Today I called again and was told by Anthony that these items will not be in production until sometime in November and I should expect delivery in 10 to 12 weeks from date of order. When I ordered the Jeep I was told by my dealer that it would be 6 to 8 weeks.

Funny thing! This is 2010 and one would expect relibable information on a $45K purchase. I have been treated better as a customer on a purchase of a $200 cell phone! WTF?

I called the same people today and was told the exact opposite....... :/

Just put it this way

If you do not have a VIN

Your Jeep is nowhere near being close to production.

Even if you DO get a VIN

A bunch more crap to go through.

Have to find, make available and sequence parts.

Then what if there's a parts shortage or another delay?

Something to think about.

This is a LOT more complicated than most people think.

these people are sitting in call centers and only have info given to them or 2nd hand info. Its been stated all in this forum that the tech pack doesnt start production till the middle of Nov. Most of the time they are just giving a general or average time to delivery. Check Milous' thread and you will see that most 2011's that are ordered take on average 8.5 weeks to arrive.

new to this board and really appreciate all the great info. Two questions - 1) i really think i want the mineral gray, but I also want frost (tan) interior. so i have to get a Limited to get frost/tan since Laredo's only come with graystone interior?
2) then, if 1) is true, anyone with the Limited and black carpet have observations about whether you can actually keep it clean (dark exteriors are tough to keep clean and i presume interior carpet would be also).

Well dark carpets do not show stains, but will show dirt (sand) very easy. You can see if one spec gets on the carpet.

I could have white carpets and be happy because I make sure I do not spill or track in mess. However the black carpet bugs the hell out of me since I have to vacuum once a day, LOL
