I love that its easy to spin the wheel with your palm on the wood. If you repeatedly do that to leather, it'd wear down. It did in my Lexus.

Re: Can you get a 2014 Overland w/o wood steering wheel

I like the look of my wood wheel. But it doesn't feel like wood. By necessity, it has such a thick coating of urethane that you are actually gripping a type of plastic. Having used Zebra Wood on a few projects, I'm very happy to have a plastic coating.

How is it when you grab it with wet hands ?

I dislike the look and feel of the wood wheel myself. I am afraid it will force me to apply a layer of hockey tape over it.

I wonder if the airbag on the wood wheel is wiring is compatible with the SRT wheel. That would be a nice swap.

Why would you have wet hands when you are driving your Jeep?

Even in the cold after skiing, I've never had a grip issue with the wood on my wheel.

Haven't had to try that yet.

I think once you get used to it you will like it.
Wood steering wheels and wood interiors in general are not that popular in UK. Lexus and some MB 's are the those tot tend to see it on.
Coming to live in Denver next month and will be buying JGC. What is it you like about the wood steering wheel? Just the look or feel or something else?

I didn't care for the wood wheel at first. I wanted the all leather one like on the Limited. After having had it, I've gotten used to it. It looks nice, and adds a bit of contrast to the cabin.

I don't know that I'd buy it as a standalone option like Porsche and others offer. But I wouldn't be bothered by it and spend extra money to get rid of it on a car that came with it.

Re: Can you get a 2014 Overland w/o wood steering wheel

i like the wood. It looks good, feels comfortable to me and heats up quickly in cold weather. It hasn't faded or cracked and never feels slippery.

not_too_shabby, you should take a test drive and see for yourself. I think you'll like it.

I like the look and the feel. The wood trim is very upscale.

I just never drive with wet hands, no situation has ever presented itself where I would have to. If I have wet hands...I dry them before I touch things.
