My guess is it's the built-in, bend over premium for the Unicorn, no equipment adds necessary. I don't think there is enough stock options available at this point to get to that number.

A few days after finding an O-land in another state, local dealers started seeing O-lands arrive from prior delayed shipments. A few inbound calls came in offering these newly arrived, highly sought after rigs for twice prior spreads over invoice, and in some cases at or above MSRP.

Can't blame 'em for trying to make hay while the sun shines, but this hopefully changes back to buyer favor once production gets squared away.

Re: Canceling Jeep Overland?

Wow...$45,800.

I feel bad for all you guys buying new overlands. They'll be worth $30,000 in a year and $20,000 in two years.

I hope you guys put down huge deposits, or you'll be upside down in no time!

I'm not trying to be rude, Same thing happened to me, Bought a new Limited in 2005, Still paying for it, and it's worth nothing.

Re: Canceling Jeep Overland?

Edmunds is thinking next year jeeps will be around 49,000 so we may not lose value as fast if next years jeeps base msrp is more then this years base.

Re: Canceling Jeep Overland?

Edmunds might make sense. After all, the 2011s have got to be much more expensive to build than the 2010s, and yet have an MSRP about $2500 less.

Chrysler decided to make the 2011 "right at any cost." Implies that they probably aren't making much on each of them, and bumping the price for the 2012s after they've been proven popular is a solid strategy.

The Edmunds "estimate" of "49,000" is referring to the SRT model, and I really doubt that the base MSRP will be that high.

The 2012 non-SRT Grand Cherokee models will more than likely have the typically yearly increase of a few %, nothing that is really going to affect the value of used 2011 models.

While the new 2011 may cost more to build than the 2010's, some of the cost difference is made up via improvements in the build and manufacturing processes.

Re: Canceling Jeep Overland?

I did the "dump the order, buy another."

Much depends on the dealer from whom you ordered. Mine was great- I had only $100 down, and it was refundable. I got it back. Since the dealer I purchased from was 150 miles away, this dealer had an incentive to treat me well- they may not make the sale, but I'll still need maintenance and I strongly doubt this will be the last car we ever purchase.

Re: Canceling Jeep Overland?

This is interesting on how much different dealers want in a deposit. My dealer wanted 10% for a deposit on an order. They settled for my trade-in. Interesting when some dealers will accept a lot less.

Re: Canceling Jeep Overland?

I put $3K down, they said it was refundable. I did it on my cc and was happy to get the points so i'm not complaining, plus if it came down to it, you could probably always dispute it through your cc company.

Re: Canceling Jeep Overland?

That just shows that your area dealers are getting together and price fixing! The pricing tales from your area indicate that the dealers give the KY jelly procedure as shown in that pic Joe posted!

Was it 48000 out the door? Most expensive Overland is around the 46 range. My store asks for $500 deposit, totally refundable. In IL the Attorney Generals website shows all deposits are refundable unless you sign something stating otherwise.

I would never give them my title. Go back to that dealership and get your title.
