"Cannot adjust dashboard while vehicle is in motion"

... or something like that. As a new GC owner, I fear there might be an obvious thing I've missed, but all the time I'm driving, the center of my speedo has a warning to the effect of "Cannot adjust dashboard while vehicle is in motion". Then at every stop sign it switches to "Press OK to adjust dashboard". The text is wrong, but hopefully you've all seen the same thing.

Is there a way to stop these warnings from continually displaying, or am I destined to read that for the next 100K miles?

Thanks

Scroll the up or down arrow on the left steering wheel control buttons. I think the obvious thing you missed was reading the owner's manual available here: Jeep Owners | Download an Owners Manual 2004 - 2011 | Jeep
(page 291)

Re: "Cannot adjust dashboard while vehicle is in motion"

Couldn't find anything scrolling up and down the options. I suppose it does say something in the manual, but if someone feels like just answering the question, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

Re: "Cannot adjust dashboard while vehicle is in motion"

That warning is only shown for the EVIC screen where you can change dashboard display options (Screen Setup) for items displayed around the gauges (range, outside temp etc). If you use the up/down buttons on the left side of the steering wheel, you can scroll through other EVIC display options (TMPS, Fuel Economy, Trip Computer etc). Switch to something other than display setup and you will not get that warning. Also note that on several EVIC menus you can also use the right/left buttons to scroll through different items within that category. Worth spending some time playing with that while parked if you haven't already. Also, I believe the EVIC menu items are covered starting on page 293 of the owners manual - http://www.jeep.com/download/pdf/manuals/2014-Grand-Cherokee-OM-2nd.pdf

Hope that helps...

- Chris

He did answer your question. The left side of the steering wheel has arrows that allow you to scroll up and down on the screen. Scroll up or down to change the menu and stop this message from appearing.

What didn't you understand about my answer? It very directly answered your question.

Re: "Cannot adjust dashboard while vehicle is in motion"

When I went out to try your suggestion, I was simply back to scrolling through the setup options that allow me to select what to display on the top left and top right of the screen. I expected to see something like "exit", but saw nothing. Chris's explanation clarified that I was in a setup mode, and needed to get out of it. Not sure how that changed what I pressed on the steering wheel, but he made me understand what was going on.

Thanks for the help in any case.

Re: "Cannot adjust dashboard while vehicle is in motion"

It was hard to get used to all that info, as I bought mine used at the local Ford dealership. So funny as the Ford guys had no idea how much info and options the Limited actually comes with. Sad when looking at other SUVs in the same price range as a Limited, even used. If spending $35k, trying to find a comparably equipped SUV is very difficult. I didn't want a third row and Muranos just aren't a good option for even basic off-road trails or roads. You will love your Jeep.

Yep, there's a ton of stuff on this dashboard that wasn't on my 2001 Tahoe I'm certainly enjoying the GC!
