Can't figure my door locks out

2013 JGC OVERLAND.

I lock the doors even when it's in my garage as I have a Glock in it. It's pulled in front first. I sit next to the left rear side by the wheel. I smoke cigars and read(novels, tablet, & cell) every morning and evening. The key fob is in my right front pocket. I take care not to press the fob in any way.

3 or 4 times aday, the locks will pop up, and the lights come on. I've tried pressing the interior lock button on both doors as well as the exterior buttons. I just realized I haven't tried locking it with the key fob but, I shouldn't have to.

Any ideas? Could an unlocking signal be leaking out of the fob?

Dan

Re: Can't figure my door locks out

Try leaving the fob in the house while you smoke and see what happens.

Good Lord, I do the exact same thing! Great minds think alike. So far no problems with it having a mind of it's own.

Re: Can't figure my door locks out

Humm something isn't right. The locks should do nothing no matter where you are around the car until you put your hand behind the door handle or press the button on the door handle to lock it.
Like said above see if anything happens with key fob not on you. If it does then something may be wrong with the fob, or some other keyless access component on the car. Not sure if it could be the issue, but I read in another post of a similar problem and someone suggested replacing the fob battery. Could try that as well since it's cheap and easy.

Re: Can't figure my door locks out

JTS, I replaced the batteries right after I bought it.

Just to see if it made a difference, I used the fob to lock it last evening. I'm back in my smokin' chair now so I'll see if that made a difference.

I guess it's no big deal but touching an exterior button is quicker and easier.

Re: Can't figure my door locks out

Well, using the fob button worked in that the locks haven't unlocked on their own since I locked them 2 days ago with the key fob.

Strange in that the door lock buttons should work that way too.

Thanks for the repiies.

Dan

Re: Can't figure my door locks out

Mine don't unlock but I notice an occasional buzz noise if I'm working around the Jeep with the fob in my pocket.

Re: Can't figure my door locks out

Mine unlocks randomly too whenever i wash my jeep with the fob in my pocket. I'll see the lights flash as if its being unlocked. My fix is to keep the fob on my toolbox and out of my pocket.

I've never noticed the lights do that but I will pay more attention next time. Another weird thing I've had with my locks, is when I press the button on the handle to lock, the lights will flash but won't lock. Only once I press twice will it lock. Any ideas on that?

Any chance your activating the button by moving around in the chair or while getting up?

Re: Can't figure my door locks out

I think that is because the water hitting the door handle makes the sensor assume that you have put your hand on it since the fob is close by.

that's not the case for me at all... It was happening when i was squatted down cleaning my wheels.

These key fobs are just super sensitive. Keeping it in my garage and out of my pocket fixed my phantom unlocking issue.
