Capability of stock WK2 altitude with sand?

Has anyone ran a stock wk2 with no quadralift go on the beach with 20inch wheels with the stock fortera hl? I live on long island where its not exactly a 4 wheelers paradise. The only place to legally 4wheel is on certain beaches with the proper permits. Since this is the on type of terain i will be able to wheel i just wanted to know if anyone had an experince with sand and my type of set up. Thanks for any input. I also have the QT2 system

Re: Capability of stock WK2 altitude with sand?

Others have written of other WK2 variations with 20's as having no issues. Remember the key to sand driving is floation so it might be a good idea to air down the tires.

I have quadralift but the 20" did just fine north or corrolla nc this summer. I did air down but probably didn't have to.

Re: Capability of stock WK2 altitude with sand?

I was in Corolla with 20s and Forteras and it was fine. I did air down some, but not much (maybe to 25). I have QL but I doubt that matters unless you are in some deep ruts. I put it in mud/sand mode, but again, it probably doesn't matter. I saw a Traverse AWD speeding out of the beach area and I figured that I would be okay. There are some general rules about avoiding red sand, etc, but otherwise you should be okay.

I am also from long island..... i have a limited with the 20's. Haven't taken mine on the beach yet, but when we were out at smith point with my husband's truck i did see a few wk2's out there. One was a 70th anniversary edition which i think is pretty much the same setup as yours. Also saw an overland with 20's, a limited with the 18's, and a laredo....

What's this about red sand? I only know about yellow snow!

Re: Capability of stock WK2 altitude with sand?

You have nothing to worry about, I have a stock Laredo w 20s and air down to 18psi and drive Island Beach in NJ with no problem. If you have QT2 you are totally fine, put in sand mode air down and you"re good.

Re: Capability of stock WK2 altitude with sand?

I had my Laredo x with well worn Latitudes on the beach with 40PSI and had no issues.

Re: Capability of stock WK2 altitude with sand?

Glad to hear that its not going to be an issue... FIORI im going to get the Suffolk County Parks Outer Beach Sticker & Green Key. I know theres another permit for fishing and night fishing but i have no interest in fishing just wheeling on the beach.
