Then they didn't earn it themselves. Since when did gas station attendants become so intelligent, and filled to capacity with common sense? If they were, why are they attendants?

The fact of the matter is I haven't seen a "full service" gas station in over 25 years in 2 states. I guess I've missed all of the mushroom clouds, black smoke, and burned up vehicles that seem to plague them as well.

So let me get this straight:

There's nothing you do in your job everyday that you do better than someone who doesn't do it as often? These guys pump gas every day, all day long. Most people only do it once a week and a lot of people don't pay any attention when they do.

I'm not saying these guys are experts or even better than you. I'm saying there are a lot of morons who should have someone else pump their gas for them.

Those are the ones to worry about - not guys like you and me that care about our vehicles.

Likewise, the capless tanks are for the idiots that can't seem to ever cap their tanks properly. Remember: everything has to benefit those who suck at stuff so the company doesn't get sued.

If they can't pump their own gas, maybe they shouldn't be driving a car in the first place...

That was the first thought that came to my mind as well. What requires more thought , skill, and coordination, driving a car, or squeezing a nozzle until it goes click?

..that I agree with. ....

...yet, the state keeps giving these people licenses.

They're the reason we have all those systems on cars so they'll brake for us, keep us in our lanes and even park for us.

They're why the rest of us have to find hacks to undo all the silly safeties that keep us from using the things we buy.

Hell, they give illegal invaders drivers licenses. They can't even afford the insurance, let alone buy the car.

YEAH The morons who came up with that "law" were after the Latino vote & not actually improving the safety of the roads out here!

Here in California, I don't remember the last time I saw a "Full Service" gas station where someone would pump your gas for you. And I'm fine with that.

In comparison, in New Jersey & New York, ALL of the gas stations are full service & you can't pump your own gas.

BACK ON TOPIC:

I've only filled up my 2015 a few times. And I've already encountered the problem where the gas pump stops pushing fuel almost immediately. That issue has (so far) only happened once... but I'm less then thrilled.

Have you filled up at that same station before or since? Some nozzles aren't 100% compatible with these capless fillers.

I would suspect that the normal upgrade and replacement cycle would take care of that at heavy usage stations in the near future, though.

Some out of the way stations might still have issues.

It's likely similar to the early days of pay at the bump: not all stations allowed it and you had a lot of pumps that only had readers on one side of the slot. Now, nearly every station out there offers it and you can put the car in facing either direction. The only issue now is some of the convenience is taken away by having to punch in your zip code on the slowest keypads ever.
