Wave at the other suckers behind the glass watching their lonely cars pass by.

Just buckle the seat belt behind you, should work fine.

I was told by service tech this would not work as the seat detects weight as well as seat belt.

Re: Car wash after shifter recall

Find a car wash that doesn't make you get out. That's stupid anyway, because then you gotta wait and tip the guy drying it. There are some nice newer ones around here that actually have a moving platform that all wheels sit on (not rolling inside a guide track). You can essentially put it in park if you wanted. But you don't have to get out anyway so makes no difference.

Re: Car wash after shifter recall

Been riding through with mine since I bought it. Not a problem for me.

Yeah, since when do you need to get out of your car at the car wash?

Re: Car wash after shifter recall

I stopped at my carwash to ask that question. You should too. My guy said that they would have someone ride through the wash in the car. He said they have to do it with some Mercedes models currently.
Some else here mentionned that his carwash had a $4 surcharge to ride through! Ridiculous.

On the ones where they first vacuum and clean the mats then pull the car through on a track and hand dry at the end.

Some you have to get out, its more because they pick it up on the other side and drive it to the next stage of drying, vacuming, interior windows, wipe down, tires and whatever else. They do a great job of course they better for $24, GCs are small enough they dont get oversize fees like full size suv though so thats a plus.

I'm under the impression there is only a weight sensor in the passenger side for the purposes of disabling the air bag when no one is in the seat.

Having said that, I'll try to remember to test it when I get home.
