Cargo Carrier Recommendation?

I have a 2011 JGC Overland with standard MOPAR racks. I would like to install a roof top carrier such as a Thule Atlantis 1600 or 1800 and would like to know if anyone has had success with those. In particular, I am concerned about the antenna. Are there any roof top carriers that can be mounted forward enough safely so as to not interfere with that antenna or will I have to commit to installing a shark fin? If I do install a shark fin, will I still get satellite radio reception when the carrier is installed and mounted over the top of the shark fin? Thank you!

Re: Cargo Carrier Recommendation?

you just have to play with it a bunch to get it to fit right. I have a smaller box (Width) that only takes up the right side of my JGC but I had a heck of a time trying to get the box forward enough so that it wouldn't hit the tailgate. You just have to move the front bars as far forward as you can. (I mean slam them forward!). and then you should be ok. You might need to put a little piece of foam on the end of your box so that it doesn't scratch the tailgate. I learned the hard way when I didn't get it forward enough. I don't have the mopar bars just and FYI. There are a few options for the antenna if you need to replace it.

Re: Cargo Carrier Recommendation?

A hitch mounted carrier is easier to get to and does not increase the frontal area.

Bimmer:

No problem with satellite radio reception with the carrier installed over the sharkfin? Thanks!
