Re: Carmax Appraisal

Timing is also critical with mecorn's excellent method...you are more readily going to be successful at the end of a month and especially at the end of a quarter when the dealer is trying to get volume credit which often rebates on all their car sales if they make their goal. They will sometimes take no up-front profit (or less) on a sale to move one or more vehicles out the door to qualify for the incentive. That incentive is sometimes more profit than they would normally make on a "regular" negotiated sale with all the tricks...

Good article drsvelte! I guess hold-back isn't much of a secret anymore, but it would appear that dealers are reluctant to give any of it up.

Well, with the DC group buy, they apparently are giving that up as well as more.

I believe Chrysler dealers have 2 important dates. IIRC they get $250/unit sold by meeting a quota on the 20th, then an additional $500/unit sold for meeting the end of month quota.

As always ... I could be wrong.

Re: Carmax Appraisal

UPDATE:

I was at the Jeep dealership getting my brake booster recall inspection (yay, another thing wrong with the GC!) and decided to do a bit of shopping. My thought process was that maybe I could get out of my jeep purchase and into a jeep lease. Possibly get some more features at a better rate since I am leasing a 2014 on the lot while the 2015 are just around the corner.

Long story short, they ended up offering me 33k for my GC Limited which is the highest I have been offered anywhere. The vehicle for lease was a 2014 Limited, White, All the same features as my Limited PLUS LED DRL, Sunroof, Ventilated front sears, and 20 inch wheels (MSRP just over $44,000). They needed $3000 down, 10k miles/month, 36 month lease, $519/month.

Although the vehicle has a few more bells and whistles than mine does, I think I am going to stick with my GC until I see a new vehicle I just cant live without.
