Carwash,
Check out pages 131-134 in the owner's manual about "flat towing" and shifting the transfer case into neutral.

Yea.. i got that. Wash Mgr told me it was too difficult for them to mess with it and that they didn't want to be liable for damaging the transmission bc it makes a -expected- thud when putting it back into gear.

They are just morons.. and you can't fix stupid.

Re: Carwash Conundrum

There should be a simpler way to shift your car into neutral other then pulling up a tab in the center console and using the secret squirrel and morocco mole method.

I'd call him smart. Car washes are a target for false claims all the time.
Jeep is the one who dropped the ball by not making all their electronic controlled crap intuitive and user friendly.

If it was a problem, it would be more widespread and a recall issued. An isolated incident of an old woman crashing into a house, when thousands of these vehicles are on the road now, is hardly enough to draw any conclusions.

Beyond that, the alleged 'threat' that carpool is wary of requires a serious enough software flaw that would ignore the brake interlock, allow the vehicle to shift itself into gear from neutral AND accelerate itself. If that happens, and is confirmed, you either need to call an exorcist or a financial planner to help you invest the millions you would pocket in a lawsuit.

Hell, if this is a real perceived threat by them, why not just go full moron and line the wash tunnels in copper mesh, creating a Faraday cage so that RF interference from planes flying over head won't turn vehicle's into zombies controlled by the chinese??
Libby2cm,
You still standing by your sassy comments above? Just curious.
