Best bet is those end cap filter wrenches you slap a ratchet on. All my strap style wrenches are useless here.
Correct. I have the V8. The looks like the metal part couples as protection for the filter and a drip conduit to direct oil through the window of the plastic road shield when changing the filter. It looked like it was bolted directly to the block.

Im definitely going to get a cap style filter wrench after all that but I made sure I only hand tightened the filter so I don't ever have to struggle like that again.

Despite all the issues I had, it's still REALLY nice to have room in an engine bay to do things. My other car is a 1982 Citation X-11... one of the first tranversely mounted engines and talk about tight quarters. I dread having to do anything with that engine. Not having to use ramps either is a nice touch. Thanks QL!

Is there any way that once you lift the WK2 to the highest setting, could the system reset and lower while you are under the vehicle? Not sure I would want to take that chance!

If using the QL as a way to work under the vehicle. I would definitely put jack stands under the frame so if it did drop all of a sudden you have a safety.

DITTO!! Never ever work under a vehicle without frame stands, even if the vehicle has normal suspension. When I was younger I was under my 4x4 Suburban when one of the huge BFG All Terrains suddenly blew out from a bulge caused by, I suspect, off-roading the previous day. The truck dropped and its transfer case slammed my chest and pinned me until a friend came by and got a jack to get it off of me. A tire blowout is remote, yes, but an airlift suspension like QL is more so never to be trusted for work under a vehicle!!!
